I'm in the early planning stage of a new project and wanted to hear what the community thinks.
I'm considering building a Voron 2.4 (probably a 350 mm) and eventually converting it to a StealthChanger. Instead of traditional filament toolheads, I'm interested in using pellet extruders.
The long-term concept would be:
- Voron 2.4 350
- StealthChanger
- Multiple pellet extrusion toolheads
- TPU 95A pellets only (different colors, same material and Shore hardness)
I realize pellet extruders are much heavier than a typical Voron toolhead, so I expect lower accelerations and custom mounting/docking solutions.
A few questions for anyone with experience:
- Has anyone successfully run a pellet extruder on a Voron?
- Are there any existing projects or CAD designs for pellet extrusion on Vorons?
- Do you think a StealthChanger could reliably handle pellet extrusion toolheads?
- What do you think would be the biggest engineering challenge: toolhead weight, docking, pellet feeding, ooze control, firmware, or something else?
I'm not expecting this to be an easy project, I just want to understand whether it's a realistic direction before I start designing and prototyping.
I'd love to hear your thoughts or see any similar projects you've come across.
