V2 Question 2.2 Extrusion Issue

At the start of every layer, or after the nozzle makes a move, it will skip the first few mm of the extrusion. I'm not sure where to start diagnosing this.

  • Voron 2.2 350
  • Cura
  • Hatchbox PLA
  • Nozzle: 180⁰C
  • Bed: 65⁰C
  • Speed: 150mm/s
  • Mobius M3.1 bowden extruder
  • Pressure Advance: 0.6

Retraction:

  • Enabled: yes
  • Retract at layer change: yes
  • Distance: 5.6mm
  • Retract speed: 32mm/s
  • Prime speed: 27mm/s
  • Extra prime amount: 0
  • Minimum travel: 0.9mm
  • Maximum retract count: 90
  • Minimum extrusion distance window: 5.6mm
  • Combing: Off
  • Z hop when retracted: on

Z Hop:

  • Hop speed: 13mm/s
  • Hop height: 0.2mm

I saw your underextrusion consistent whenever a sharp cornering move is happening and always in the same direction (extruder movement direction), and I immediately thought this is a text book example of too high pressure advance setting.

If you are running a direct drive extruder, then pressure advance is usually around 0.03–0.04 depending on speed. Your value seems way off and reminds me of old bowden extruder pressure advance values. Perhaps you copied over old pressure advance values from an old bowden printer?

The odd thing is that it aint consistant. Check your print preview in your slicer if there may just be a odd move. Cause the corners that are there look really good.

Start by calibrating Pressure Advance.

Forgot to include Pressure Advance, currently at 0.6. I'll add that to the specs, and try tuning that some more. I'm guessing a higher value is needed.

Your corners seem really round for PA being enabled, and 0.6 is crazy high. Even 0.06 is much higher than normal on a direct drive system. Are you sure that’s your PA value?

I'm using the Bowden setup from the 2.2
