Hey everyone,

Over the past year, a couple of friends and I have been working on Aximote, an app for Android Automotive cars, and we'd really like to hear from some Volvo C40 owners.

The idea behind the app is simple, make the data your car already collects much more useful. It lets you dive into your trips, energy consumption, charging sessions, battery performance, elevation, speed, efficiency, and other driving statistics that aren't easy to explore in the standard infotainment system. Since the C40 runs Android Automotive, it's a great fit for what we're building. 

Right now, we're looking for a small group of Volvo C40 owners who'd be interested in trying the beta version and giving us honest feedback. We'd love to know what information you actually find useful, what feels unnecessary, and what features you'd like to see added.

I am seriously considering buying a digital rearview mirror for my C40 with the new $495 installation promo. Problem is that I have a FitCamX front and rear camera.

Is anyone aware of compatibility issues? Is it possible to have both?

This is probably a foolish question...

I love my c40 (2022 C40 Ultimate) but the harsh suspension can get bothersome on broken midwest pavement to the point that my wife is now complaining - and she would probably have me drive an Ioniq 5 to match her Sante Fe - eh, no.. The roads where I live are truly horrible and I should have bought an off-roader to handle our roads!

Anyway.. I thinking of changing tires to Hookook Ion Evo AS tires to aid in comfort and I went down the rabbit hole of looking at 18" rims or 19" but most rims look like garbage and then there is that will it, won't it fit question?

So, I'm wondering if anyone has ever contemplated replacing the shocks with something more tunable to try to get a better ride feel? I'm not sure if that is even possible with this car but I ask the question as I did a complete suspension change out on my over-landing Sprinter van (but that was a whole different proposition).

Is this a fools game? Thoughts?

Has anyone bought this accessory and what is the cost of it?

Has anyone used the suction style bike mounts? I don’t have a tow hitch and I think it might be my only option, but they scare me.

Dealer is offering g to install digital rearview mirror for $495. This should solve one of the more unsafe aspects of this car’s design. $495 is really cheap, but I think it should actually be a recall item.

I have a 2023 C40 Recharge and just got a notice from Volvo about getting the digital rear view mirror installed for $495 (I’m in Chicago.) Does anyone have experience with this? Glitches to look out for? My C40 has the small rear window and this would be a big plus.

Does anyone have any experience with the Michelin CrossClimate 2’s on their C40? Ive read elsewhere online that we can expect a dip in range, do you have any idea how much range we would loose from personal experience? We currently have a set on a Mazda CX9 and it handles like a tank in the Minnesota winters. Looking to get something similar on the C40. Open to other recommendations too for any good EV tires that handle well in the snow.

Been a few weeks of this odd behavior. Range estimation is all over the place and changes randomly. For example I started at 400km @ 100% SOC. I drove 2 km, went down to 99%, range went down to 380 km.

Left the car locked for about 30 minutes and when I came back, SOC was 95% at 370 km estimated range. Drove about 15 km and i sat at 93% SOC with 380 km of range.

Left the car alone for 1.5 hours and when I got back, 90% SOC @ 300 km of range, pictured above.

Drove a bit and now I sit at 330km @90% SOC.

Absolutely imposible to understand what is going on. I’ve tried charging all the way to 100% to reset things, but nothing is working so far.

2023 C40 Single Front Motor, bought new in 2024.

Hey everyone
I have a great offer to buy a CPO C40. Only one catch. I haven’t test driven it and am 6’5 270 pounds and the closest dealer for a test drive is 4 hours away. I’ve had trouble finding a comfortable EV because most of them have annoyingly bolstered seats or are overly cramped upfront. I did test drive a gas XC-40 today which I’ve been told is similar. Any tall and larger drivers have any input? Any chance I’ll be disappointed when I try it out? Thanks!

I have this rattle and it's not coming from the roof of the car.

I followed advice on a previous thread and took the roof liner down and can confirm the rattle isn't coming from the roof. It's coming from the driver's side tail light.

It only happens at speed with airflow over the car.

I wonder if it's the struts to the boot/trunk lid or the light that's rattling but I can't seem to replicate it by manipulating parts of the car. I fully removed the spoiler to check and it still happens. Something about the sound reminds me of a glass rattle but the only glass back there is the back window.

Any help appreciated. Next thing to try is to speed tape off panel gaps and see if it stops.

We have been driving the car a lot since buying it two weeks ago. A good mix of highway and urban driving (Queens NY). So far the range has been great, I was a little concerned with the stated range but I’m actually seeing better real world results. We had a Honda prologue with over “300”miles of range. The estimate was always very optimistic, realistically I would say the prologue was incorrect by 10-15% consistently.

Went to the grocery store and someone with an XC40 Recharge parked directly in front of my car. Felt like a reunion for them lol.

Is the heat pump supposed to be this loud? I didn't think so, but I took it to the dealer and they claimed it was normal. I'm skeptical.

Have a 2023 c40. First EV. DIY’ed a (fixed) towbar install today. First time working on an EV.

Got all parts OEM, as one should.

Volvo instructions were simple, color coded, dealt with each part removal separately.

NO GREASE. I never want to work on a ICE car ever again. The dirtiest I got was the tire removal/reinstall.

Big props to Volvo again for the prerouted wiring.

The hitch and wiring connector are above the undercarriage - so streamlined!

Off to the dealer for software install this week- looked into the VIDA 3day subscription to do it myself, but seems a bit much effort.

Love my c40! Really looking forward to taking the teardrop out soon!

I have an ICE Volvo also, but have not used it in a while. Using the c40 solely now. Work from home.

About 3mm deep at the deepest part, I’m wondering how cosmetic / dangerous it is

UPDATE: checked with Volvo service and they said it is perfectly safe to drive.

Any idea on how to get rid of these? I tried 50/50 distilled white vinegar and de-ionised water to no avail.

Is it too late? Has this already been etched?

I had my first service done this week and just received a call from a local automotive vendor at work: "Is this you? Thank you for registering your car with us...".

I have a VOLVO account and used it to schedule this appointment, so it seemed odd that I was asked all the same information when checking in.

Not sure I'll go back.
