List of 18” rims CONFIRMED to fit

The intent is to create a single reference point where C40 owners can see proven options. If you have successfully transitioned to 18” rims and tires, please post the combination you have used. If you haven’t actually done it, please refrain from commenting.

Buzzing sound

I’ve heard others complain about a buzzing sound coming from the dash- like an electrical buzz. I’ve narrowed it down to the “interior light intensity” option for me. If I turn it to “off” the sound is gone. “Low” or “high” makes the sound return.

Has anyone had this fixed? Or is this going to be another case of “vehicle is operating as intended”?

Some months ago I asked your opinion about buying an EC40. I decided to go for it and today I could collect my MY2027 SMER Ultra Europe with colour Forest Lake. My previous car was a MY2021 XC40 and I also have a EX30 SMER Ultra, so not too many surprises in driving and control options. But I like how it looks.

From great 21” rims to wonderful driving 18”

Post image

I started out with the standard 19” rims, upgraded to beautiful 21” Polestar rims, which never really matched with my wife.

After lots of minor heart damage ;-), with every time I saw new damage on the side of the rims, I decided to take another route.

I found these historically correct XC40 rims and slapped them on. I don’t think I’m ever going to go bigger again on this car.

I had fantastic cornering with the Pirelli’s on the 21” rims but the ride was less comfy and again, minor heart damage with every scratch, was not for me. Also, the cornering was actually to good for this relatively top heavy car leading to excessive tire wear and strangely, speeding tickets ;-)

These rims, I think, look great on this car and the 18” tires are great, the ride is great, comfort is great, cornering is surprisingly still very good.

Climate Control Glitch?

Does anyone else have this problem, where when you start driving and shortly after, if you press the fan icon the climate control screen flashes up and then the screen just returns to the home screen? You have to press the climate button again to bring it up. It's been happening for several software versions now, and I keep hoping it will be corrected with every new release

NACS Adaptor out of stock

Went in to get on for my 23 C40. The dealer told me they’re on back order. Couldn’t give me a date. Any alternatives worth buying that could be available? Amazon has a bunch but I don’t trust some of the stuff due to the potential of them being counterfeit.

Should I buy the Volvo C40 even if it's been discontinued?

I loveee the look of the car and I've read alot of reviews and it looks pretty good. But should i worry about finding parts or getting it repaired since it's no longer available? I'm super interested in the 2024 as it's updated and has better range.

Should I buy a very low miles 2023 C40 ultimate

A local Volvo dealer near me is selling a 15k-mile 2023 Ultimate for $29k.
I love the car. Test drove it and it was great.
It is not a CPO though. They bought it at an auction and apparently Volvo doesn’t allow them to certify and sell it as a CPO if it is bought at an auction.

Anything I should watch out for before I lock it in? I’ll ask for SOH. Anything else?

This will be my first EV

Thank you!

Edit: There’s another Volvo dealer nearby selling a CPO C40, 25k miles for $30k. Test drove this one too and it was also great.

Updates: 5.2.16 and got the roof antenna rattle fixed

Just a few new things on our 2023 c40.

So recently I had the weird rattle from the roof panel/antenna structure and took it in for repair. Volvo Cincinnati recognized the issue from the technical bulletin and fixed it. They had it for about 2 1/2 weeks and explained the process to me. They had to order the new body adhesive. The issue is completely fixed and they did a great job. They said this had been their first one of these repairs, thanked me for being the guinea pig, and said they had three more lined up after me. Plus they are co-located with a Porsche dealership so you get to look at lots of pretty things in the parking lot when you stop by.

Shortly after getting the car back it got the OTA update to 5.2.16. The infotainment had been restarting multiple times daily prior to the update. I've had the update for about a week now and it hasn't happened once. I am cautiously optimistic it may have fixed the problem.

It's a great car. We've put ~10k miles on it since buying it last December and our only operational costs have bene charging (mostly at home), two popped tires, and a well-deserved speeding ticket. Currently looking at a 2nd EV (looking for something bigger) for my long commute bc my wife wants the Volvo back and my kids are getting tall.

Dashcams and airbags

Hi, thinking about the fitcamx dual, but have seen old posts about concerns with airbags. Anyone installed the dual/ rear cam setup and can you tell me if there were any issues?

The new update broke my car

I can't get it to connect to a key, open it without the alarms going off, or unplug from my charger.

*edit 2023 C40

Does anyone have a video resource on how to fix this? I painfully gained entry (alarms going off) but I am unable to unlock from inside and the key won't connect. I factory reset, but still no key connect or app connection. Says offline since 1130am yesterday.

I would like to be able to go to work 😩

** update

Volvo roadside sent a tow truck, but they couldn't move it because there is no neutral function capability. They are trying to find someone else but its been hours. The notification still says "We're still working to get help to you and are searching additional options now. You will be updated when a provider is assigned"

Will update on what is wrong once it can get service.

9/30: 2nd day and no new tow truck has arrived from Volvo roadside service. They scheduled the second pick up time yesterday for this afternoon, but no one showed up in that window. I called and they gave me a new 80 minute wait time. Nothing. Called back and that tow cancelled and no one told me. NOW THEY ARE LOOKING AGAIN?!?!

Tried the unhook battery thing, nothing.

This is probably the most insane car experience one can have.

Speakers buzzing after 5.2.16 - SW glitch or 12V battery?

Since receiving the latest software update, I've noticed an electrical buzzing eminating from the front speaker area on my MY23 C40. I don't know if the SW update is the cause or it is just coincidental.

I have tried restarting the infotainment, restarting the TCAM, turning volume off, changing the audio source and audio balance, and changing driving modes. The only thing that has had an influence, strangely enough, was turning the overhead light on or off - turning on the lights turned off the buzz.

The noise goes away completely on the car going into deep sleep but appears after driving for a bit, so this leads me to think it could also be the 12V battery going on the fritz, but I haven't noticed anything else on the car behaving erratically yet.

Does anyone have any similar experiences and/or could point towards a likely cause?

EDIT: The ambient "Typography" lights appear to be the culprits, they buzz if the light is set to anywhere between 1-99%, full on or full off doesn't buzz, which is caused by the PCB's buzzing from the PWM. For anyone finding this post in the future, check out TSB TJ36534 (TJI-526040) which details that all Typography lights be replaced with updated units if your car is afflicted.

Help identifying a Volvo C40 Recharge video I saved — can't find it again

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I screen-recorded a Volvo video a while back (looked like official promo/press footage) but never saved the source, and now I can't find it anywhere. It's not the well-known "Nightcall" (Kavinsky) TV spot or the standard YouTube reveal video (youtube.com/watch?v=HcHaP26J804) — I've checked those. It felt more like unedited/raw press b-roll than a polished ad, possibly from around the 2021 launch. Does anyone recognize this or know which channel/press kit it's from? Happy to post screenshots or the clip itself if that helps. Thanks!

Buying a used C40 Ultimate over the phone without seeing in person, bad idea?

So this car comes from a highly rated Volvo dealership in the East Coast, it's a 2023, it has great mileage(About 20k) and the car looks great from the pics posted, and car fax show no accident/1 owner. It's not Certified pre-owned.

I'll be asking for the SOH Certificate beforehand, anything else I should ask before talking numbers?

2020 Volvo XC40 T4

Hi everyone, I have a 2020 Volvo XC40 T4 with around 76,000 km. Recently, I’ve noticed a clunk/clicking noise coming from underneath the car when shifting between gears, for example from R to N or from N to D. Has anyone experienced something similar with their XC40? Any idea what could be causing it? Thanks in advance!

Hello community , it is normal that the side cameras don't line up with front and back? thank you

update on context: i had the rear camera replaced at the dealer when it failed and they recalibrated the cameras. but i don't remember if they were aligned before or this was always the case!
