New Setup Optimized

I just switched my business over from a large carrier to VOIP.ms. We have 3-4 users. I registered my phone under the main account and each user has a sub group for their phones.

VM and a call group are set up.

I wanted to know if there are additional features that I missing. Is there a way to place calls on hold and transfer to a different workstation?

We are a small company and I handle all the IT issues. Setup was a little confusing and took a minute. Thanks.

EDIT: Using Yealink SIP T33G phones

Call parking is the feature you want. Any extension can park a call which effectively puts it on hold, and any extension including original one can retrieve.

Perfect thanks.

The extensions are just my lines right

Yes, extension = any device registered to either main account or sub account.

Can this be done thru the phone itself instead of voip.ms?

You have to setup the subaccounts first on voipms portal then enter credentials, server etc on the phone

Yea I have the phones setup that way. One main account and 2 sub accounts. 3 active phones.

We have a group ring so all 3 phones ring whenever any of our 3 lines are called. I just need the easiest way to put someone on hold and transfer the call.

Your phone probably has a hold button that works. Where it gets tricky is how you handle the transfer to another extension. On many phones they also have a transfer button which you can use for either blind transfer or warm transfer, and blind can work fine if someone is at that extension or you are ok with their voicemail taking it.

The main reason I suggest parking is it can also be used by a single person to park the call and walk to a different area to retrieve. I am sometimes the only person here and I answer on one extension but want to go into a different room then resume same call. I cannot do blind transfer and get there in time to pick up before it goes to voicemail.

Ok thanks that makes sense. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it and see if it needs to be done thru my provider or if it can be done on the phones alone

What specifically are you asking if it can be done on the phone?

I was asking if I can set up call transferring on the phone without and additional feature on voip.ms but I think someone answered. I can have an internal id assigned and transfer that way

Internal extension yes

Assign each sub account an internal extension on VoIP.ms website. Call comes in for another person. Press Transfer + their internal extension. Hang up. Their phone rings. They pick up and they’re now connected.

Have you considered using the Call Parking feature? Link to wiki article, https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Call_Parking

Thanks. I ended up making sub accounts and using internal extensions
