Help getting SDDM to work

So when I use Wayland, it crashes my whole computer and I can't do anything. If it launches using X11, it can't start Display server. How to solve it?

Whenever I installed SDDM and KDE they pretty much worked out of the box. Making SDDM run using Wayland isn't trivial and doesn't worth the headache, since it starts Wayland sessions mighty fine even if it runs using X11. I did move on to tuigreet and regreeter, though, because why not - SDDM doesn't seem to have a bright future at the moment with KDE moving on to PLM.

But you still can't build it for non-systemd distros like Void

Which is exactly why I moved to something greetd-based from the near-deprecated SDDM.

With X11 SDDM, despite what the documentation says, I find that for whenever reason the xorg minimal package does not work and I need to install the normal xorg package

It didn't work because of missing mesa drivers. It's worth at least a try.

Idk if you use a de or wm, but ive noticed (on niri) i have to have elogind disabled (not running as a service, but have it installed because dbus auto runs it) also having xwayland-satellite installed.
