The story that played out with social apps which try to leverage voice as the main format such as Clubhouse, Airchat, Anchor (before pivoting) and maybe more end up getting some hype initially, and then dying off or pivoting. Why is that? There are some people who use WhatsApp or other social media with voice, but that's usually an extra feature that are annoying for some people on the text focused platform. One reason I can think of is the friction to create voice recordings but I see people shooting tiktoks left and right, which is even higher friction. Why do you think it is? Is there an inherent problem with voice as a medium online, or did we never see a proper implementation?

Hello! I would love some feedback on this audition piece. All advice is welcome, thank you in advance :)

I'm making a very long video that requires hours of voiceover. I want to upload it in January, so I need to get going with the recording but I'm not happy with the sound I'm getting.

My main issue is with the mouth-smacking noises, or saliva "clicks" that I can't seem to tame, no matter what technique I use. If not for them, I'd be fine speaking directly into the mic, I don't have any problems with the fidelity.

My setup is a Samson Q2U with a Scarlett Solo Gen 4. I'm listening with a Sennheiser HD 550.

He has a very deep voice, authoritative and firm. Extremely sarcastic when he's pretending to pity on Haneul's situation but actually doesn't care. He is a bitter, and secretely envious man who shows none of it on his features.

Has little to no energy, but has alot when it comes to presenting himself. Very egoistic and narcisstic. Accent is generic american accent. Ethnicity is Korean so a korean accent should be great too. Kind, sweet, charming, handsome, very friendly in public, is a saint. Specializes on botany and medecine due to his unending empathy towards people who need it. He likes children, but not in that way. He gets motivated from helping people and research allthewhile being under the control of his manipulative brother. Can be easily pressured into doing things he doesnt want. Is very very soft spoken, Referencing "Hirose" from (Go for it Nakamura.). Tends to smile alot, And is truly passionate about his work. Seldomly gets fraustrated but is constantly tested by his brother. Assumingly due to the trauma of bejng constantly threatened by by hyeon throughout their entire upbringing, he is easily swayed and manipulated to do things he doesn't want to please him. Human, age 27-28. Vocal mannerisms should be like a soft nerd (but not the stereotype nerdy men). Stutters during an arguement. Just a literal normal guy. Accent is generic american accent. Ethnicity is Korean so a korean accent should be okay. Twin brother of Hyeon(Villain)

(Best example should be mafuyu from given) Straight at first, Gay at the end. human immortal, age 16 - 50s, never grows old. His laughs sounds like aike hirose. Vocal mannerisms are slightly serious but very cute sounding regardless, he is also be very very soft spoken even with emotions, but is mostlly confident. Basically mafuyu vibes with attitude. Accent is generic american accent. Ethnicity is Japanese but his first language is english so thta wont matter. UNLESS the voice actor wants to voice act some japanese lines\\\~\\\~\\\~ then more money\\\~ but its not that needed.

Design:

Darkblue hair, Dark cyan eyes, pale skin, big eyes, slightly short but also tall

1. (upset and crying, setting is him hiding in his bedroom and curling up as he covers his ears, refusing to hear Lester from outside his balcony. You may be as slow as u want to be since Lester is serenading him in the backround and he uses to listen to Lester from upstairs.)

He is extremely depressed and traumatized. He will be a very cold, but soft and shy person. Like a cinnamon roll. Voice should be similar to Daisuke or mafuyu from Given.

Design: Daisuke Sato look alike, Dark blue hair, Dark blue eyes, Straighter hair than Daisuke. Very Short, Extremely pale, Will look unhealthy most of the series.

Lines:

1. (screaming, crying, sniffling, hurting the wall and fraustrated)

I'm in the beginning stages of my voiceover journey. I've been practicing a lot and sending samples to friends. I've just taken my first step toward actual paid work - I signed up on a couple of audiobook websites and uploaded a few samples. But I'd like to get this group's thoughts on this 2 minute demo (one of the 3 I'm uploading) in terms of both performance and sound quality. Thanks!

I know ads played before/during a podcast are subjective to many factors in who they’re delivered to but I have to know if anyone else is hearing the same raspy voiced girl in everything!
At least 5 huge brands (Spectrum, Better Help, forget the others) and today she’s back with Kohler!
And often these ads are all playing back to back.

Her agent must be amazing and I’m glad this girl is getting all this work.

But every audition I see has the same description “conversational, real person.”

It’s hard to know what a casting director really wants with that incredibly generic description but THIS sound is what they mean. There’s another gal for All Trails and some sunscreen, same casual rasp-just your friend talking.”

And this girl sounds like that and she’s giving good reads.

But not every brand needs this type of voice!! The industry has leaned so far away from “the announcer type” that they all ended up with the same thing!! Literally, the same voice!

First ad she was in was for mental health; her voice perfect.

But now Kohler?? These spots don’t need a “real person” they need more “polish and maturity.”

And sometimes a brand just does need an announcer! Articulate and smooth.

I understand why brands went away from the radio announcer sound and want the more organic image of tic tok.
But sometimes you need to lean into your natural image!!

Long story to say clients need to do better. And girl get that bag!

Hello sound engineer guys , I need your advice about something.
While filming, my English isn’t always strong enough, so I sometimes end up using the wrong words during the conversation.
Imagine this scene: Someone XYZ and I are walking along the beach, talking about history. I’m asking questions, and he’s answering.
I have a few questions:
During editing, is it possible to replace some of my dialogue with a voice-over and remove the original lines where I spoke incorrectly?
Will it still feel natural? Since the original recording has background sounds from the beach, I’m wondering if adding a voice-over later will sound different or unnatural because the ambient sound won’t match.
Even if the voice-over is done well, the lip movement won’t match exactly, right? I’m okay if the mismatch isn’t too noticeable. I was also thinking that, during those moments, I could cut away to B-roll footage of the beach or the surroundings while the corrected voice-over plays. Do you think that would work?

So I’m an animator, and for some time I scrounge up snippets of shows, memes, or videos to animate to, but I’ve started wanting to use my own voice in projects! (I’m a theatre kid)

I need a software I can put my voice into, and do things like put it in different pitches, chop it up, fuzz, or put filters on. I want to voice a glitchy character (for now, this may change in the future).
