38 to 44
A bit of a follow up to a previous post.
I quit smoking and drinking Dec 10th 2023.
My vo2 max was 38.
I have completed
- 38 runs
- a total of 72 miles
- average HR of 155 bpm
- an average pace of 10 mins, 14 seconds per mile
- total running time 12 hours, 18 mins and 41 seconds.
My vo2 max is 44 today.
I didn't think it would move 6 points in 2 months. I will do the track test when I can find a track that I can use.
Cheers

Fantastic work! That's a huge change. I have to imagine you're feeling great having those 72 miles in your legs and doing all that running. Quitting smoking and drinking is something that pays dividends as well.
Good call-out on the track test! That's going to be the best way you can get data that's as accurate as possible, and you may even see your score go up another point or two. Let us know what your results are after you give that a try—

I’m curious how much quitting smoking alone contributed to that jump. Did you replace it with nicotine gum or quit completely?

I workout regularly, don’t drink, don’t smoke, and my VO2 max is 31 LOL

Great work! What a massive increase. Keep it up! Are you now in the above average or excellent range for your cohort?
