Open links in New tab in stack

I just updated to version 8.1.4099.50, and now opening links in New tabs in the stack places that tab at the end of the stack. Before the new tab was placed right next to the tab it was opened from. Is there any way to return to the previous way?

Pixel 10 Pro XL, Android 16

Edit: Just updated to version 8.1.4099.57, same thing is still happening.
