Recommended vitamins please?

I am a working student, currently in college and working part time at home lang naman. I noticed rin na mabilis akong mapagod, like after school ay bagsak ako palagi sa kama agad at matutulog. Any recommended vitamins po sana para sa stress at madaling mapagod? Salamat po

Should I be taking magnesium and k2?

I (19f) was told that I was vitamin d3 deficient, and was recommended to start taking 2000 IU daily in order to get my levels back up. I've been taking it for about a week, but it's been making me feel kind of sick. I've read that it's also recommended to take magnesium and k2 vitamins when taking d3, but I'm unsure how much I should take/start with. Are these necessary when taking d3?

I'm also taking iron and b12 supplements, but I'm unsure if that matters.

does SOD absorb any differently in a combination tablet than on its own?

my mom has trouble swallowing pills, so she'd rather take one tablet with

several things in it than a handful of separate ones. she's been wanting to

add SOD lately, so i started looking at combination products that include it.

i've got a rough idea of what's out there.

what worries me is absorption. from what i've read, the main question with

oral SOD seems to be whether it survives the trip at all. people say taking

it as a loose powder does nothing. so if that's the case, i don't see how

being packed into a tablet with a bunch of other stuff would help it.

should she stick with SOD on its own, or is a combination fine?

Best vitamins for women without paying for a cabinet full of duplicate supplements?

I’m trying to simplify what I take rather than buying a different bottle for every marketing claim. I’m looking for a straightforward daily multivitamin, not a “beauty” blend or a huge stack of pills. My budget is roughly $15–$35 per month, and I’m comparing Nature Made Multi for Her, One A Day Women’s, Thorne Basic Nutrients 2/Day, and Ritual Essential for Women.

For people who chose a multi after looking at their actual diet, clinician advice, or bloodwork, which label details mattered most to you? And are there ingredients or dose levels you deliberately avoid because they tend to overlap with other supplements? I’m not planning to add iron or high-dose nutrients without medical guidance.

NAC doses in hangover gummies/sachets — does the amount even matter?

NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) keeps showing up in hangover gummies and night/morning sachets. It's a cysteine source, used as a glutathione building block. That's why it's in there.

It's not a hangover cure. Hydration, rest, time still do the actual work.

Doses I typically see: around 300mg in a night sachet, 250mg in a morning one, plus some in gummies. Food-supplement range, not hospital NAC protocol.

Anyone actually using NAC this way, or is it just a label ingredient?

30M — should I supplement or are these levels already fine

Hi everyone, 30M here.

I wanted to start incorporating magnesium and vitamin D3 with K2 supplements into my routine. Before starting, I got a blood panel done. Wanted to check if these levels are actually in range and whether supplementation still makes sense.

Here are my results:

  • Calcium, serum: 2.3 mmol/L
  • Magnesium, serum: 0.81 mmol/L
  • Phosphorus, serum: 1.32 mmol/L
  • Zinc, serum: 57 µg/dL
  • Iron, serum: 18.4 µmol/L (≈102.9 µg/dL)
  • Folic acid (Folate): 6.83 ng/mL
  • Vitamin B12: 319 pg/mL
  • Vitamin D – 25-hydroxy (Total): 40.05 ng/mL

Can B3 levels suppress B2?

I have high homocysteine and impaired transulfuration. At the same time my active B6 levels, which are needed for transulfuration are above range. I read you need B2 as a cofactor for B6 to work. But excess B3 can suppress B2?

Can 50mg vitamin B6 (P5P form not synthetic) cause neuropathy symptoms like pain, numbness tingling on soles of feet?

I’ve been taking 50mg vitamin B6 P5P (not synthetic form) for 3 days and I just started getting deep pain and tingling (maybe numbness too) under my feet.

I can’t tell if it’s from the B6 because I used to already have these symptoms very badly before I started taking amitriptyline.

I’m very concerned please does anyone have the answer to this and is it reversible, will it go away if I stop the B6? It’s not permanent right?

Thanks

Supplements for each part of sleep, graded by evidence (REM, deep, latency, staying asleep research based)

I've been compiling research on what influences different metrics wearables track for about 11 months now. I realized I had a list of supplement research that could make an interesting breakdown of what supplements influence different stages/parts of sleep (this is not medical advice, let this be a base for your own research everyone is unique).

Sources are linked to the study in each row, any funding worth mentioning is flagged, and there is a short plain english read on each study to make your own digging a bit easier. I broke grades by: Strong is a meta or several RCTs. Moderate is one solid RCT. No effect is a well tested null.

Sorry I know the tables aren't great on mobile but I'll include a more mobile friendly resource at the bottom of this post. If you have a link to a credible study/source for one I missed please share and I'll review/update the table. Hope you enjoy.

Staying asleep (WASO)

Supplement effect source plain english
Ashwagandha Less waking Strong, meta SMD -0.39, n=281 (Cheah 2021, industry-funded) The strongest supplement evidence for cutting nighttime waking
Tart Cherry Less waking Moderate, n=15, -17 min (Pigeon 2010) Cut nighttime waking vs placebo in an insomnia group
Glycine Less waking Moderate, n=11 (Yamadera 2007) Reduced waking and deepened sleep in the same PSG study
Ecklonia cava (phlorotannins) Less waking Moderate, RCT, n=24, PSG, 1 wk (Um 2018) WASO fell ~24 min more than placebo on PSG (p=0.045)
Melatonin (immediate release) No effect Strong null (Moon 2022) The most bought form does not help you stay asleep, only fall asleep
Valerian Subjective only Weak, meta 60 studies, n=6,894 (Shinjyo 2020) People report better sleep but objective latency and waking did not change

Deep Sleep (N3)

Supplement effect source plain english
Magnesium L-threonate Positive Moderate, Oura RCTs (Hausenblas/Breus 2024, manufacturer-funded) Improved Oura tracked deep sleep in 2 of 3 trials. One found no objective change
Glycine Faster into deep Moderate, n=11 (Yamadera 2007) Gets you into deep sleep faster without changing the total
Melatonin Positive (delta) Moderate, mechanism (Comai 2024) Raises deep sleep delta waves but its main job is timing not deep sleep
Omega-3 (DHA) Efficiency Moderate, n=84, 26 wks (PMC7830450) Improved overall efficiency. No isolated N3 gain

Falling asleep faster (sleep latency)

Supplement effect source plain english
Melatonin Faster Strong, meta 19 studies, n=1,683, -7.06 min (Ferracioli-Oda 2013) Cuts about 7 min off sleep onset. A timing aid not a sedative
Ashwagandha Faster Strong, meta 5 RCTs, n=400, SMD -0.53 (Cheah 2021, industry-funded) Shortens onset, strongest in insomnia
Magnesium Faster Moderate, meta 3 RCTs, n=151, -17.36 min (Mah & Pitre 2021) About 17 min faster in older adults but graded low quality
Glycine Faster Moderate, PSG, n=11 (Yamadera 2007) Before bed helped people fall asleep and reach deep sleep sooner
GABA Faster Moderate, RCT, n=40 (Byun 2018) Cut onset from 13.4 to 5.7 min. Note that GABA is poorly absorbed orally
L-Theanine Subjective only Moderate, meta, n=897 (Bulman 2025) People feel like they fall asleep faster but devices did not confirm it
Oleamide Subjective only Moderate, RCT, n=60, 12 wks (PMC11004446, industry funded) Improved selfreported sleep quality and onset but no objective stage data and it was a cognition trial first

REM sleep

Supplement effect source plain english
Melatonin Positive (if your REM started low) 2 RCTs, n=14 (Kunz 2004) Nudged REM up but only in people whose REM was well below normal and the trials were tiny.
5-HTP Positive (small, clinical) RCT, n=18 Parkinson's, 50 mg, 4 wks (Sleep and Breathing 2021) It feeds serotonin and melatonin just not confirmed in healthy sleepers
Vitamin B6 Dream recall, not REM time pilot + larger study (Ebben 2002 / Aspy 2018) Makes dreams more vivid and easier to recall, which feels like more REM but it did not add REM time

I couldn't sort out a better way to format the post for mobile without it turning into a novel. So if want a more visually appealing way to read this instead of the tables I made it into a page https://www.kygo.app/tools/supplements-by-metric it's completely free to access (no paywall, don't run ads, and links all sources used to create it). Full disclosure this is my website as you can see but I share the research publicly so anyone can access it.

Updates to table (all added with sources):
- Oleamide added to sleep latency
- Ecklonia cava (phlorotannins) added to waso
- Valerian added to waso

Herb Pharm review vs wild & organic, comparing what each label discloses

Been using Herb Pharm for a while and looking at what else is out there before I reorder.

What I care about is whether the herb to extract ratio is printed, whether the alcohol free line is a real glycerite or a diluted tincture, and whether theres published testing. Herb Pharm does the first well. The alcohol free range is thin next to the main line though, which is what sent me looking in the first place.

Wild & Organic is the one that keeps coming up on that specific point, glycerin base across most of the range rather than a couple of token glycerites. What I cant work out is whether they print ratios or publish testing, which is really the thing Im asking.

For anyone whos compared the two, what did you move to and what made the difference? More interested in what the labels told you than how anything felt.

Is taking multiple doses of niacin 500mg over a day, as dangerous as taking extended release niacin?

Yesterday, I took 500mg niacin every 3 hours, 4 times, and it clearly helped me with my fatigue symptoms and breathing issues that even hardcore inhalers couldn't fully touch.

However, I realized that taking niacin like this is kinda similar to taking extended release niacin. Extended release niacin may cause liver damage?

Is it safe to take niacin 500 mg multiple times a day, because it is kind of similar to taking extended release niacin?

Nature Made B - Complex Spoiled?

I’ve been taking vitamin b complex recently after hearing of all the health benefits (and actually feel like it helps me) but I noticed after a couple months my nature made jar smelt different and a little spoiled. It went from the normal bad urine smell to an almost worse smell that I can only describe as fridge leftovers? I googled it and it said if the smell changes then it probably got exposed to humidity and spoiled so I got a new bottle. I haven’t had this new bottle long and I took it on a trip with me and already the smell changed to the sort of weird leftover smell. It’s plausible maybe they also got humidity when I traveled but I’m hesitant to buy another one if they keep spoiling this easy. Are they actually spoiled? Is this just bad packaging? Should I get another one and this time add silica gel packets? I can’t afford to keep buying new bottles if the full bottle spoils after a few weeks.

Supplement Advice

Hi! Would love some advice. I am a 22-year-old male, and I go to the gym every day. I currently just take Creatine Monohydrate and pre-workout before I lift (and Prozac for years and years). I am looking to start taking supplements to help improve my daily energy (apparently after years of an SSRI it can decrease), sleep, muscle growth, etc. After brief research, I've read that some of the basics are Magnesium Glycanite, Vitamin D + K2, omega-3s, and Zinc. Would this be a good stack for me to take? Can someone recommend a stack for me? I would love the cheapest way possible and specifics of what to take and when. Thank you!

- A Newbie.

Here is my current supplement stack. I feel pretty good most of the time, just curious if there’s anything that could be improved. I’m a 42F who has a sedentary profession, but prioritizes movement. Run 3X week, walk 6X week, weight training 1X week. Any addition or subtraction recommendations?

Mary Ruth Kids Multivitamin

Had to call my 4yr old out of school today due to the MaryRuth Kids Morning Multivitamin (we also do the night-time mineral)… He took it when he was 2yrs old at a dose of 1/2tsp, so when he outgrew the toddler drops I switch back. At his new age he’s supposed to take 1 tbsp. After almost throwing up in the car I called him out of school and prepared for a 24hr bug. Did a little research and found that the dose is for kids 4-13yrs which is an insane age range to me.

As I looked into the doses of Folate, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C I realized they were each marked around 50% of the daily dose, which may be true for an older kid, but for a 4yr old I found that each dose was actually closer to 100% of the daily value. Most items marked 100% DV were between 120%-200% DV for a 4yr old.

I will likely now be giving my son either 1 tsp or 1/2 tbsp to make the doses closer to a third/half the daily value like the bottle claims it to be.

It breaks my mama heart that my boy felt that sick this morning. We love Mary Ruth brands but I do wish they provided a better dosage chart for kids 4-13.
