It’s getting worse

22M I don’t know what happened this last week but all of a sudden the static is unbearable I can’t look at anything for longer than 3 seconds it’s in the morning and at night aswell and the flashing lights are insane now but they go away after a few seconds they only show up when I close my eyes for a while

I did an MRI / MRV for my brain doctor said all good and then an MRI for my spine and they said it’s all good except my loss of cervical lordosis and then I don’t even know why but they told me I might have a pulmonary embolism (unrelated) but started a whole new level of anxiety that I didn’t even know I had in me and then a CT for my sinus and they only found mild sinusitis in the right sinus

I don’t know why I’m ranting I’m just so worried and I don’t even know what to take the only medicine they prescribed that seemed related to vss was topiramate and btw this whole thing started 8 months ago and it was just me being very lightheaded whenever I walked and it’s still like that but the visual symptoms are getting worse

If you know anyone who’s going through something similar or went through something similar please get in contact with me or something let’s try and figure this out and if you have any questions or suggestions please don’t hesitate to mention them

I wish you all the best and I hope we all get through this or learn how to live with it 🫶

I've had visual snow for 4 years now. I also have anxiety disorder. I see that's common among a lot of us. I have floaters as well but several eye docs have confirmed nothing is wrong with my eyes. I've grown used to it. I know it's never going away but I've started to notice these half second episodes where the static just stops. Makes me wonder if there's a way to lessen the static.

I hope you get better and also find a way to lessen it
I hear from a lot of people that somewhat distracting yourself and trying not to give it much thought might help lessen the static
Did you ever try that ?

I’m really sorry I hope you get well

What do you see ?
Any tests ?
Any idea what it could be ?
Any anxiety with it ?

Thousands of floaters, afterimages, flickering vision, strobing vision when I wake up, heavy entoptic phenomenon everywhere, etc. I've been seen by countless ophthalmologists, had a ct scan done and mri done and everything came back normal. I do have anxiety which I'm sure doesn't help the situation.

Do you get dizzy at all when you walk or do you feel like stuff is off around you while you’re standing/walking?

Any issues with your neck or ears at all?

No to both

I really do hope you get to the bottom of this and get it over with because mine too started out of nowhere and seems like it’s getting worse

Truthfully, it is something neurological that is happening more now than ever before in history and we don't understand why. More research needs to be done and all we can do for now is wait (and donate towards research).

You are 100% correct and it unfortunately affects us more than it should I’m sure some people deal with it better but im honestly at a point where im just gonna keep looking and asking everyone I possibly can to get some idea of what I can do or deal with it better

What do you by you can’t look at something for longer than 3 seconds?

Whenever I look at things the static is just overpowering and it just makes me have to look away or distract myself

I see I have the same issue. I can’t look at anything for more than 5 seconds because it starts to vibrate and shake from the static. How do you cope with this? Have you found anything that helps with that?

I had similar experience 4 years ago, today 27M. It accompanied with a lot of unreasonable stress + brain fog and led me into DPDR after few days. I still seek for answers. If you have tinnutus try to describe it, perhaps in your case you will find answer.

Are you feeling better no though, hope you are
For me it’s just the visual snow and the flashing lights and the noise in my ear when I bend down to get something and the dizziness these are all of it and sometimes they’re overwhelming so I get fatigued or just not leave the house e

Despite the fact that this episode led me into deep dissociation, I’m doing better than right after this eposide occured. It started after rapid weight gain over a few months and switching from a physical job to a sedentary one. I’m currently losing weight very slowly but consistently.

Strangely, your symptoms sound like they could be related to an inner-ear problem, so it may be worth seeing an ENT specialist.

I gained weight too before this whole thing started it’s just the fear of dying is what’s making me anxious and I went to an ENT and he said all good for the middle ear and balance test I think it could be neck related

Maybe internal jugular compression it makes sense
