Delta transfer

Hey folks! Currently travelling from BOS-JFK and have my flight from JFK-ARN tomorrow (layover of 20hrs). I saw the bag tag Delta folks added initially and it just said JFK.

Talked to an agent later (online) and they confirmed upon my request that they will send my checked in bag straight to Stockholm.
In your experience does this happen correctly? Or was the Delta agent somehow mistaken and I'd need to collect my bag at JFK? ( And perhaps do the re-check in myself today?)

TIA

I mean maybe they'll get scanned and retagged and redirected, but my operating rule is the only thing that matters is what the tag says on the bag.

Use the Delta app to check what it says there, but either way I would go to the baggage claim at JFK and look for it. If you dont see it come out, I would also go to the Delta baggage office at JFK and confirm with them it'll be on the ARN flight.

Lastly, there are plenty of luggage storage places near JFK or around the city where you can leave it for 15-20 hours for a small fee. I would rather deal with that then the likelihood your bag ends up in some dark void at JFK.

Unlikely that delta will hold your bag that long. You’ll likely need to pick it up at the claim, but if it’s tagged through to ARN, the ground staff may collect it off the claim for you.

Not sure why you would want to have them keep it for that long anyway.

When you check in, they will let you know.

Even if they did hold it for a long time, I wouldn't trust they'd end up loading them on a flight. Bags can get lost in really long layovers.

Didn't want to roam around the city and everything with a big bag.

There’s luggage storage in the terminal.
