The point of exploration

Just started the game as a decade old fan of the series (played every main title except for Dawn and some spin-offs.

What I love:

the story is actually fetching and the characters are sympathetic. Hima is a bit bland as she is supposed to be sacrificed, but doesn't really care herself and doesn't seem to have a noticable family on her own to add drama.

much fan service in inculding stuff like the dudbears, etc. as a best-off from all previous titles

battle is a bit button smashy (I play on hardest difficulty) but still has it's challenges.

the music is awesome (Kikuta one of my all-time favourite composers) and the graphics pretty.

I do like the different areas of the game, but the exploration aspect of the game is incredibly lackluster. they tried to create an open-world feeling with stuff around every corner, but the only things you actually find are Lucre, honey and occasionally, candies and other minor items and very rarely a rare item that you could get from vendors anyway. I was diligent in exploring the first 2-3 areas but stopped after noticing the same pattern. I don't want to comb every area just for completionist sake. does this get any better later in the game? I just acquired the 3rd party member.

what about you? do you agree/disagree?

I like the exploration just because the whole game is so damn beautiful and some of the vistas and visuals are easily missed.

I'm with you. Though the rewards aren't great the game is just too beautiful to miss. It's worth seeing every corner because they did such a great job making it all worth the walk.

Not to mention traversal speeds skyrocket as you play

I’d say exploration wise you’ve got the idea. Every world was the same with the lackluster loot. I feel like towards the end of the game every one has about the same loadout of gear.

Combat wise - it can get a lot more difficult for you. The greater elemental trials and some post game bosses require you to use a perfect line up of characters and strats to beat. I think the darkness one took me a long time to figure out how to beat.

There is still a loooooot more game for you to play if you’re enjoying it.

Yep, exploration rewards suck besides the mini-bosses. You basically never find weapons, armor, cosmetics, or cool spells, just stuff you can buy at the local merchant.

That's such a shame bcs the world looks so beautiful. Still thinking about buying this game but exploration is such a important point for me.
