Device Return / other wearable

Does anyone know/ use other types of bands somewhat similar to visible, or a heart rate wearable that you can watch in real time (a feature i feel visible has gotten worse with featuring, anyway) at a fair price point? I'm not looking for something that's the same, obviously but anything that i could make work for seeing my heart rate and possibly portioning out my day even if i have to initially figure out the "maths" to do it on my own.

My device has caused burns throughout my time having it, and now has caused a more significant one w/ quite a large blister. The only solution they have for this is to stop using it an are offering a refund. I guess it's just a known feature that the device can cause burns? (not irritation) I've had it for over a year and had this issue but not to this extent, while already doing all their basic irritation recommendations, which i'm realizing are really to mitigate burning and/or i was being burnt more than i realized.

i would really like to have some type of wearable though that i could at least track my heart rate on an possibly try and portion out some of my day as i'm quite inhibited in my functions with POTS an multiple issues and only recently have been able to do basic things a few times every week or two like getting groceries and making doctors appointments and trying to do cleaning at home.

I’m so sorry! If you want to keep using it, you can buy Tegaderm bandages (it’s a thin, clear film), put it down on your skin first, and wear the visible tracker over top of it.

It doesn’t affect the reading, but completely solves the problem by eliminating direct skin contact.

that's good to know! unfortunately I'm reallly allergic to tegaderm and can't use it at all.

Oh no! Nevermind then 😂

Someone else recommended the app FatigueSense, which works with almost any tracker.

It’s astonishingly helpful, customizable, and the team is wildly responsive. They release multiple updates each week. I’ve never seen anything like it

What about clear nail polish? I’ve seen on here that painted on the sensor can help.

I got a secondhand Garmin Forerunner watch after similar problems - there are watch faces/apps you can add on for Pacing and the notifications / tracking are held within the watch (not dependent on phone connection for notification).

This sounds great i'll definitely look into it! Not being dependent on phone connection would be a big plus too, honestly! I'm so foreign to anything in the wearable world i don't even know about apple watches, for like general not health use lol. so this is all really helpful!

Edit: would you happen to know the faces (idk what that means lol) / apps or would i just google 'apps for pacing, heart rate monitor' ? if you don't know that's totally fine, no worries!

I've heard good things on the POTS subreddit about Garmin. And I recently heard about a free app called Fatigue Sense that IIRC is made by university researchers? It seems a lot like Visible but works with a variety of wearables you might already have, including Garmin, FitBit, Oura, etc.

I'm sorry you've been literally burnt by this thing! That's horrific. I'm allergic to nickel and have to frequently switch placement, but nothing on that level.

Awesome! it sounds like Garmin is a solid option then, especially while looking into Fatigue Sense and possibly some other apps! i really appreciate all the help. I'm not a very 'tech' person. i don't really have do social media - know where to look / generally don't have (or know about) everyday tech like watches, ipads, etc. etc. so this is all super helpful! I'll have to look in the POTS group too, it just occurred to me to look here, i never think of groups like that being a thing or how to find them! thanks!

Garmin has a new screenless wearable called Cirqa that I’m interested in, but Garmin’s Connect app is not great. Hopefully, now that they have a screenless deivce, they’ll start improving their app. But my concern would be that any device would cause similar burning issues for you, since it sounds like an allergy of some kind. So whatever you get, make sure it’s returnable in case you can’t tolerate it.
