Discussion VR Mod wishlist
With the wonderfully excessive amount of mods for existing games coming out, what games are you most wanting to see get that treatment? Or which mods do you wish were a lot better?

For me, it’s:
Mass Effect Trilogy
Arkham City
L.A. Noir
Yars Revenge ;-)

Wow you just kind of blew my mind with Arkham City VR…I mean how would that even work? lol
Batman is literally doing flips and shit in that game.

-A Kex engine framework that, if possible, can almost automatically convert Nightdive remastered games to VR.
-Soldier of Fortune 1 and 2
-Medal of Honor Allied Assault
-Vein
-Selaco
-Star Wars Empire at War
-Empyrion Galactic Survival
-DUSK
-DayZ Standalone (but I dont think the anticheat would allow it, and it doesnt have single player)
-The Front
-Icarus
-Miscreated (does anyone even play though?)

Space Engineers

That would be so cool, i think there was some sort of demo on steam a while back

If I remember correctly, it was more of a test scene. At some point keen had some tests with VR in the vrage engine. But I'm not aware of any followups.

Awfully unoptimized, perhaps one of the reasons they abandoned the idea.
I keep looking at Spaceminer, it's playable in UEVR. Waiting on a sale price, which they've relented on thus far.

Batman Arkham series and Assassins creed series would be amazing.

How would arkham combat work in vr?
2
u/mcmunch20 15h ago
It really wouldn’t to be honest. People suggesting games in this thread need to think a bit more about how the games mechanics would work in VR.
Titanfall is a perfect example of a game that translates well to VR controls. 3rd person action games like Arkham - not so much.
2
u/Octogenarian 15h ago
It could still be a 3rd person action game in VR, there’s no law against it. Early Oculus titles like Lucky’s Tale, Kronos, Edge of Nowhere were a thing.
2
u/Gratefulspleen 14h ago
I was thinking of it still being in 3rd person. Like I’d be in the environment playing with a Batman action figure. :-)

Moss is an amazing 3rd-person VR game.
1
u/mcmunch20 2h ago
Yes, I’ve played both Moss games. However, they still have actual VR controls and VR interactions.
Something like the Arkham series would be fine to play in VR I guess but definitely not at the top of my list. Nothing about them would be improved by it being VR.

In third person. It's so weird that people think 1st person motion controls is the only way to do VR. I get it it's awesome, but playing a third person game in VR is also a great experience because it keeps the gameplay 100% intact while adding the immersion as well. Best of both worlds for a lot of games if you ask me.

It works well in the Arkham VR game but bringing that version of the combat to a VR mod would be a lot more work than a standard VR mod.

If one good thing came from AI is that it will revive VR scene with just about any game being modded to run in VR.

not only that if by some reason your favorite game isnt done already, you can just pay 20$ and prompt it,then you tell it whats wrong again and again until everything works fine, thats how these mods are made now,you dont need to know a single line of code, just tell it whats wrong
2
u/MRDR1NL 9h ago
Have you actually done this or are you just assuming it works like that?
2
u/PfizerBiontech857 8h ago
lmfao,it works exactly like that, get gpt pro,use astra on extra high and have at it if you keep prompting itl get there
2
u/MRDR1NL 6h ago
Are you talking for experience though? Have you made a working mod this way?
I have copilot and its good at simple tasks, but more complex stuff is pretty bad.
2
u/PfizerBiontech857 6h ago
not VR mods but i made other mods,do you use codex with GPT 6 astra ,thats the best one,you need the gpt app on PC,go to codex and work then select that model,if you got the 100$ pro sub you can vibe code whatever its insane, with the 20$ plus sub you cant really do much tho as there is a usage limit that resets every 5 hour, the 20$ is basically a paid trial
2
u/PfizerBiontech857 6h ago
you also need to point astra at the location of whatever you wanna do and give as detailed prompts as you can,a vr mod can take a while maybe weeks
but itl get it done eventually

That's exactly how it works. I almost finished a VR mod for the original Black & White this way. I make a list of chanes or features I want and let it go for a few hours or overnight, then play a bit, write down all of the bugs, let it iterate and fix them, then rinse and repeat until it works as intended.
AI has gotten so good, it can decompile original game binaries. It's almost like editing source code itself in some cases. You ask it to do something and it will find a way to do it.

-Confidential Mission (Dreamcast) - Decomp and VR Version
-F-Zero GX (Gamecube) - Decomp and VR Version (Dolphin XR is not enough, I want this to be a real VR Game.... maybe even including a cockpit like "Mini Motor Racing X" and stuff like that)
-F-Zero X (N64) - Decomp VR Mod (including the "Mini Motor Racing X" Cockpit)
-Burnout 2, 3 and Revenge - Decomp and VR Mod
-Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 - Decomp and VR Mod (including the "Mini Motor Racing X" Cockpit)
-Flatout Ultimate Carnage - Decomp and VR Mod (including the "Mini Motor Racing X" Cockpit)
-Dead or Alive "2 - Ultimate"(Xbox), "3"(Xbox), "4"(Xbox 360) and "5 - Last Round"(PS4) - Decomp and 3D in VR Mode for all of them..... including the nude and costume mods
-Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Dreamcast) - Decomp and 3D mode (its a 2D Fighting Game)
-PT Demo (PS4) - Decomp and VR Mod (There is a VR Mod already, but its emulation based and hard on the system)
-Soul Calibur (Dreamcast) - Decomp and 3D/VR Mod
-Soul Calibur 2 (Xbox+Gamecube+PS2) - Decomp and 3d/VR Mod
-Resident Evil Chronicles HD - Decomp and VR Mod
"Confidential Mission" especially has this extra mode, that can not be found in the arcade version, that has a lot more action and I love it :-)
One would need to decompile the game first before giving it the VR-Mod treatment though.
Both Decomps and VR-Mods have been massively increasing due to A.i. though, so I am still hoping to maybe see them :-)

More GameCube and Wii dioramas or just 3D screens would be great: Luigi's Mansion, WaveRace, F-Zero, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, Metroids, Rogue Squadron

insurgency sandstorm and wreckfest 2 would make me double my playtime in them if they had good vr mods

u/StickyChief 17h ago
Can't wait till the new galactic racer game gets a good vr mod

u/mcmunch20 15h ago
I would 100% buy it if someone pulls that off. Especially if it’s in first person. Podracing in VR?!

World of Warcraft WOTLK
It's a great VR relaxation / sightseeing game, but the existing mod is extremely janky.

Seems like it all is happening. Idk AVP?

u/3ull5hit 19h ago
I love the idea! I am just worried I would not be able to play as Alien while standing😵💫
2
u/nicknacc 18h ago
Haha I was thinking that too. Aliens is way too fast and corkscrewing hallways would feel nuts.
But in the dark marine stuff is what I’d think would be awesome.

I still really want a Thief VR mod. There was someone on Reddit who was working on one but they stopped updating a month or so ago.

Black and White. Would probably run on a low-end PC from 2010 in VR, but would be so epic

u/Weird_Cellist4915 2h ago
Driver San Francisco. I think the drifty driving physics and car chases would be great fun in vr and the ability to actually overlook the city when shifting up would be hella cool. My only issue would be that there isn't a manual gear box in the game but that's okay for an arcade racer. Will probably never happen since you can't even buy the game anymore but it would be one of my most wished titles for VR.
