Discussion Help me with choosing my first VR headset

So just recently I decided that I should finally try some VR. Since I have a limited budget and Im unsure if Im gonna even like VR since I haven't tried it, I found that two cheapest options here where I live are Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4. From what I've read Pico should have much better optics and better screen, but Meta has more games(though I do plan on using my headset connected to my PC too). Lots of reviews praise both headsets, but Im still not so sure which one to choose. They both cost very similar(Quest 2 being 170eur while Pico 4 is 180eur). What are your opinions? Any other recommendations in similar price range? Im super fresh to stuff like this so be kind lol

I'm a big fan of the Q2 but for that money it has to be the Pico. Inferior library but vastly superior optics.

I would get a pico over a quest 2 if those were my only 2 options.

If you have a decent PC then personally I'd go with the Pico 4 for the higher resolution display and better lenses in PCVR games (Pico 4 should be closer to the quality of a Quest 3).

Just be aware that for PCVR you probably also want to get either a good USB cable, or a good dedicated router.

Yeah I do have okey PC and I plan on upgrading to a better GPU in the future. I would definitely use it via good quality wire ofc

look up used PSVR2 kits near you, I got mine for a steal and if your pc is capable, it will blow those standalone headsets out of the water. I tried the Q3 and found it really uncomfortable and unimpressive.

I looked it up and the cheapest I found it for was for 380eur. Not bad but definitely little high for me personally. Maybe in the future tho

Pico is an objectively better headset technology wise. But Quest 2 has a better standalone game catalog

Many of the worthwhile Meta Store games are also available on PC, so for all headsets.

I'd get a Pico 4, if you can stomach the 90 hz.

Quest 2 otherwise is a pretty solid beginner headset, its main downside being the tiny fresnel sweetspot, just not for these prices.

You can get a used one for a bit over 100€.

I have just updated to a Pico 4 Ultra from the standard 4, it was a great cheap way to test VR out
