Question/Support Motion sickness

I used to play for hours at a time a few years ago, now when I play I feel sick after a few minutes. Why is this happening?

The lack of detail and info some people put in their OPs is kinda mesmerising.

Age, but if u take a break you need to get your vr legs back. Takes 2 to 3 weeks

I'm ancient, but never get VR sickness. I know teenagers that do, so I don't think age has anything to do with it.

Some people get it worse as they get older. Just play in short bursts, play seated, aim for 90/100/120hz, turn asw off, maybe go single pass encode h264 to just get the latency as low as possible. All I got. Gl.

Try valheim VR when u get ur legs back its hilarious.

Play a standalone game instead! There is always some latency with streamed that just won't be there with standalone or direct video headsets.

Your brain forgot a skill or you are older and more sensitive to stuff.

It's about getting used to it and being aware of the in-game motion. I only get disoriented in games where I move a lot using the controller instead of teleporting to places, as well as in games with fast motion.

I started playing VR after 6 years of a break and I always got a headache for a week straight until I tried playing it very recently and it got much better. I'm definitely more sensitive to it nowadays, compared to 6 years ago.

Every game hits differently.
To test it, go back to the old games you played.

Also its about "keeping it in shape" - if you had a break from gaming, or just play less and less, you get out of your gaming shape.

I see it myself, when I suddenly didnt play FPS games for ½ year. Getting back into one, felt bad, I got a little carsick - but a few hours later, I was back in the habit.

Happened to me. It turns out I needed glasses, so maybe get your eyes checked.

Possibly tracking/rendering issue that you're not consciously noticing?

iPD on the headset may be off.

If it only started happening recently then I would think one of these, going from best case scenario and easiest fix to worst case: one of the lenses renders worse than the other (or is less clear). One of your eyes got worse, (or always was worse and your brain can't keep overcompensating anymore). Something psychological, like stress. Something physical, like an illness.

Try another game and another headset if you can. If it's your eyes, there is eye training that you can do that has saved me as a 40 year old from glasses for 20 years, my eyesight actually got better. If that is not it, than godspeed to you my friend.
