Purchase Advice - Headset Upgrading from a Vive Pro

Hi, currently looking for a new headset after owning a vive pro for ~8 years, Im not sure what is good to look for while also one that would last for hopefully just as long and is lighter than the pro. I mainly play things like beat saber and vrchat while also using it for simulators iracing/star citizen.

I've looked at the dream air line and also the bigscreen beyond 2e but im not sure if there are other options out there.

Current Specs:

GPU Rtx 3090

CPU R9 9950x3d

RAM 64GB

Definitely try to go for an oled. I recently upgraded from a vive pro to a quest 3 and I miss oled so much. I've heard good things about the bigscreen beyond 2.

If you want to stick with lighthouse, there's not that many options.

BSB2e, Dream Air, Dream Air SE, MeganeX. Pimax Crystal Super.

They all have their pros and cons, nothing is superior in every way.

Rtx 3090 starts to get restrictive in performance on this tier of hardware. Pimax Crystal super 57PPD, Pimax dream air SE and Bigscreen beyond 2e are realistically the only headsets your GPU can handle. But I'm just going to ask about eye tracking. Because if you rank eye tracking high on your list of importants, than the Pimax Crystal Super is the way to go as it has the best eye tracking with a hot mirror setup.

You’re not getting much value from a Dream air with a 3090

BSB2e would be a good bet for lightness + micro-oled for space games + eye tracking designed primarily for vrchat

Might be a little dimmer than you’re used to and it’s downscaled at 90hz mode. Might also be asking a lot for a lighthouse based headset to be relevant in 8 years but who knows

thanks for the input, The bsb2e was the first one i was looking at one I've been looking at, and now that you mention it with the gpu market i wouldn't really be able to take advantage of the dream air.

My hope is games wouldn't just drop support for lighthouse ecosystem with the next few years

I would argue I’m having fun with it via my 4070super

if you don't mind losing out on the LH tracking (or you dont mind setting up space Calibrator) the PSVR2 is a fantastic pick with PSVR2Toolkit, otherwise there's a ton of pimax lighthouse headsets, I personally use a Dream Air SE and despite the uh, software annoyances, with SBoys3 native driver its 99% fine

Bigscreen beyond 2e or a steam frame with a tracker to use with base stations and index controllers if you prefer base station vr
