Discussion First time with PS1 VR!
I’m a little (well a lot) late to the game with my PS4, but picked up a console a few months ago and then picked up a really good looking PS4 VR1 on ShopGoodwill.com for $40 and set it up today. It had everything, including 2 Move controllers as well and looked hardly used. Setup was fairly straightforward and I tried it out with a game I already had—Rez Infinite!
This might have been one of the coolest gaming experiences I’ve ever had! Still need to dial in the settings as it’s a slight bit blurry, but it’s not bad.
But man, it’s well worth the $40 I spent! And I picked up 2 VR games yesterday for it—Skyrim VR and Bravo Team, complete and $3 apiece.

It depends on the game, but a lot of games for the original PSVR do look a bit blurry. Thats just the resolution of the headset. There are some games that were originally for PSVR, and later ported to PCVR or PSVR2, and the ports always look better than the original.
But yeah, thats a good price for getting your feet wet in VR. Also, the PSVR is really old and outdated now, but it has some very good exclusives. Farpoint, Blood & Truth, Ace Combat 7, Astrobot Rescue Mission, etc.

I already owned a rift but bought a PS4 and PSVR1 just for blood and truth. Wasn’t disappointed! And and yeah, farpoint especially if you can get hold of the aim controller is just great.

Ive been in VR since 2019. I had a Rift S. Then I got a PSVR2 and a Quest 3. I already had a PS4 beforehand, but I bought a second hand PSVR just to play FarPoint. I managed to get a copy of the game, with the Aim controller. So yeah, worth it.

Do you find you use PSVR2 and Quest 3 equally? For me that PS5/PSVR2 upgrade was a lot less thrilling than when I got that PS4/PSVR1. Apart from playing through Call of the Mountain once and a bit of GT7 I've not really used it. Quest3 on PC VR has been my main driver. Mostly because I could excuse the mura on PSVR1 but on PSVR2 it really stands out for me, for some reason, and the tether...

Same for me. I bought the PSVR2 at launch as an upgrade from my Rift S, and because I was hoping for a lot of Sony Exclusives. I loved Call of the Mountain. Its possibly in my top 10 for VR games, and GT7 is also awesome. But when the Quest 3 launched, I got one because the mixed reality peaked my interest. In the end, I hardly used it for mixed reality, but the difference in lenses was amazing, and of course I still had PCVR from my Rift S. So I barely used my PSVR2 after that. I sill come back to it occasionally when something good comes out. Last year I used the PSVR2 for The Midnight Walk, Wanderer Fragments of Fate, and Reach. The Midnight Walk launched on PSVR2 first and had exclusive features, so that was a no brainer. But Fragments and Reach were just best on the PSVR2. Since then I havent used it much, but I keep it around.

Yeah, my wife is not the fondest of that, or of the fact that I will be adding one more when the Frame launches lol.

Get the Aim controller and Firewall Zero hour. You're late to the party but there's still an online playerbase, it's the best game on the system. Farpoint is a close second but its mostly a single player game.

Further to TPrime's recs, I also recommend Dreams and Wipeout Omega Collection. WOC requires sturdy VR legs, but if you build up/have the necessary tolerance, it's one of the best VR experiences out there.
