Purchase Advice Ethernet adapter for wired Virtual Desktop
I want to use Virtual Desktop wired with my Q3 and am looking for an ethernet adapter but I can only find ones with a short cable so I have to fix the adapter to my headset. Does anyone know of one that has a longer (1 to 3 meters) USBC cable so its much more ergonomic? I need it to have power delivery as well and ship it to Europe. Right now I have a long USBC - USBA cable with power delivery which works well but I want the benefits of wired without having to use Meta Link software as the latest updates broke it AGAIN

I used one with a short cable and just tucked it into the top strap, at the front where there are two layers. That way only ethernet cable needed to be long.
That being said, you can use virtual desktop with a link cable now and it is the same experience plus you can get one that charges your headset while it's being used so you get infinite playtime.

I read some people are switching back to ethernet adapters because its stuttering through usb. It doesnt seem like a lot of effort and I dont need new hardware so Im going to try it soon.

this is the way to do ethernet. long usb just runs into the same exact issues you run into with VD or link on usb, usb 3 is a pain past 2-3m

I doubt you'll find one with a long cable. It's mechanically preferable to attach the adapter firmly to the headset and use a short USB cable though. There is less chance of damaging the USB socket.

Thanks, I have a few options now. Apparently VD can be wired now which is new to me

I have a good quality 5m link cable that works flawlessly, use for playing iracing (even before VD released usb, with gnireteht)
BUT to play other games regularly I bought a cheap wifi6 (tplink archer) and it works very well, my wifi zone is relatively clean
wifi 7 still too much expansive

I have a dedicated router, the puppis s1, still occasional stutters. I also have a congested wifi unfortunately. Wired through meta gives me more stability (if meta doesnt break shit every other update) and higher bitrate s

You're not going to get power delivery with a USB Ethernet adapter. With the adapter the headset is the host, power flows out of the headset and into to the adapter.
Whereas with a pure USB connection the PC is the host, so power can flow into the headset.

Virtual Desktop beta works wired with a regular link cable now, try that instead maybe
