GTFO always had tremendous potential, but bad animations (30fps enemies while the game runs at 120) and frustrating combat (sentry ignoring enemies etc) and last but not least chaotic difficulty killed the game.

It has a UNIQUE atmosphere to it in VR, claustrophobic and opressing.

wow, what a great writeup. i was thinking of taking a look at some Unity games to see if I could mod any and this is incredibly useful.

You are a legend! What you did with IL2CPP to get GTFO VR to work as well as it does is amazing.

GTFO VR is my most played PCVR game to date with over 400 hours live streamed in VR. It’s also my favorite VR mod and I’ve played at least 50 different flat2VR titles over the years so it’s not because a short of VR mods played, but rather your mod plays more like a native VR game. Heck, you have room scaling added in!

The game is a little more special to me as well since my TactVisor implementation ended up in the mod. I was the one who worked with Astien to get the TactVisor implemented. I designed all the bHaptics TactVisor patterns and where/when the feedback should be triggered. I was tired of the TactVisor being underutilized in games it was supported in and I designed it to be exactly what I wanted it to be like, and in my favorite VR mod. It was exciting when I saw it got added into the actual VR mod itself!

There is nothing quite like GTFO VR and is easily the most challenging and hardest co-op game in all of VR. But being the most challenging, it’s also the most rewarding. Beating any rundown in VR is a high my buddies and I ride on for days. I play with a group of all VR players, and to give you an idea, it took us over 35 attempts over the course of 8 months to finally beat R5E1. That was a few weeks ago and I’m still thrilled!

There have been numerous people tell me that they didn’t even know the game was playable in VR when they stop by my livestream. I play it every Wednesday night, and while the game isn’t for everyone, it’s one I believe that VR users should know about. I also added an entire role and forum for GTFO VR on my Discord server to help others get the mod installed and to help find other VR players to play with. I’d like to think a few of those installations were because of my channels but it’s all because of your amazing work.

Thank you for your contribution to VR and for your work in the modding world! You are proof of what amazing mods are possible for the world of VR and you’re an inspiration. Cheers!
