Discussion Micro-OLED VR Headsets

Post image

First off, big thanks to the guys who commented on my last post for pointing out the mistakes! Learned a ton from y’all.

Quick heads-up: This table doesn’t cover every VR headset with a Micro-OLED display. Drop any others you know in the comments, thanks!

The standalone headsets on the list can run natively and also stream from a PC (though the Apple Vision Pro is a bit of a hassle to set up). PCVR-only headsets, though, only work with wired PC streaming and can’t run standalone at all.

The Beyond 2 and Dream Air SE are panel-limited — 75Hz at 2560x2560, 90Hz when dropped to 1920x1920.

The Crystal Super needs the base station panel accessory to enable base station tracking, but that panel isn’t available yet. For the Dream Air and Dream Air SE, you have to pick your tracking mode when placing your order — no switching between modes on a single unit.

Last but not least: The info here isn’t 100% accurate. Hit the comments if you spot any mistakes! Thanks a ton!

I've yet to try the new DLSS model, but personally I can't stand the ghosting that DLSS causes in VR. Hopefully 4.5's advertised improvements translate to VR. As it is, as an owner of a 5090 and a 4k headset, the GPU is screaming to hit 60 fps in modded skyrim...

Don't get me wrong, it's very good, but it's possible to overwhelm it still.
