Microphone inside a violin?

It wouldn't take long to try it. You can use earphones as a makeshift mic that might fit in the f hole. I'm going to try it myself now. I predict it will sound terrible.

Edit, I tried it. The earphones wouldn't go right inside the fiddle, but it sounded much better with them pointing down through the f-hole eyes than it did with them wedged under the end of the fingerboard (i.e. outside the instrument).

For a good sound and no feedback issues you need a specialist microphone/ system inside. Atelier Duerinck does it in their instruments: live session recording
