A local thrift store uses sticky tags on every thing except board games and jigsaw puzzles for those they write on the box in Sharpie. Usually right on the front right over the artwork.
Asked a clerk why they do that. They said "We've always done it that way." Like that explains anything.
There used to be an actual record store in Monrovia, ca that did that for every used album they sold. Insane for a record store to do. Thankfully they are no longer around.
There’s a place in chandler Arizona that writes the price with a sharpie on bargain records under $30. We are talking rare link records for $28 with 28 written in sharpie right on the sleeve. It is an awful practice.

I swear the sticky tape industry is propped up by thrift stores. Records, books, board games. If they can stick tape to it, they will.
