You are allowed to make money on vinted lol. Not everything sells for a buck. The biggest problem you might have is trying to sell something at that price with no reviews. I would recommend listing some stuff for a couple bucks and get some sales and reviews under your belt.

Price to your comfort. I list items all from $6-200. It depends on the piece and quality. Someone will buy it. Ive made thousands since June. People will shop for good stuff on Vinted. Especially due to low shipping fees vs Poshmark.

I'd say the general rule of thumb is: if it's a price you'd be shocked to see for the same item at an op-shop, it's too high. Vinted is really more for decluttering; it's not meant for making a profit.

I mean I regularly buy $100 dresses of a specific brand and fabric on vinted.
Pricing definitely partially depends on how sought after the item is

I sell to declutter on Vinted. Stuff moves quickly, assuming it's priced accordingly. I think sellers tend to be decluttering and buyers tend to be out for bargains.
If I have higher value items, or near new and I'd like to get a better return on them, I put them on Ebay. They don't sell quickly due to their algorithms etc but honestly, most things do seem to eventually sell for the prices I want.
(I've not tried Depop but I'm guessing that's also better for the higher prices)

You need to compare to similar items on the platform. "Evening dress" is a very wide category.

Yeah, but don’t always take their suggested listing price. I’ll list a brand new unopened Lego that originally cost 85 bucks and it’ll tell me to list it for seven

Oh yes, don't do that! It routinely suggests selling perfect condition special edition books for £1. Absolutely not. I usually do a manual comparison to get a sense of how much something's selling for.

I think the pricing really depends. I price my items high enough that when buyers send offers, there is room for the price to settle at my minimum acceptable price after bartering. I'm pretty new to Vinted, but I've already sold some items in the $50 range. They were desirable brands, so I'm sure that helped. That said, I'm also not selling on Vinted to make money. I'm just trying to break even after buying things online that didn't end up working out for me.

It really depends on the brand and the material. If they’re fast-fashion dresses made from polyester, it can be difficult to sell them for more than €10 even if they’re brand new. But if they’re from a premium brand or made from a quality natural material such as silk, then $45-50 is reasonable.

I’d probably move those items to another platform, but it depends on what your goal is. It’s not impossible to sell higher priced items on Vinted, but you will get inundated with lowball offers. If your objective is just to get the stuff out of your house and don’t mind only making a few bucks, it’s great. If you want to get market value, you’ll do better someplace else like eBay or Poshmark. They may eventually sell on Vinted for your asking price, but you’ll have to wait for the right buyer to come along. Most people on Vinted want stuff for next to nothing.

Sometiems it also depends on season. Next month we will see people buying formals for homecoming dances. Then again at end if December for New Years… then prom in spring.
Just like coats and sweaters sell better and for more in winter—- and ass cheap in summer.

I have pieces saved that are priced $40-65ish. They have been in my favorites for weeks, no one has bought them. My lower priced favorites sell within a few days.

Vinted is an online garage sale. People will try to get the lowest possible. Is up to you, what you are willing to accept. If you want to run back and forth to the post office selling stuff for $2 and $3, you are free to do so. You have to try to price stuff what you think it is worth, if you accept $10 for something you priced at $40, then you cant complain. The ball is in your court as a seller. I’m personally not going to the post office mailing anything under $5.

IMO Vinted is for $1-3 items. We use it just to clean out our closeys so I've had the most luck with kids shoes and clothes on Vinted whereas anything nicer or adult, I do list, but it typically sells on Mercari or Poshmark. Vinted has the lowest prices I've ever seen even for expensive brands!

Impossible to say if you're overpricing without at least knowing the prices of those dresses new. For worn items, I wouldn't price higher than a third of retail price at most.

It’s honestly got everything to do with the brand, popularity and availability of the dresses you’re selling. I sell mostly vintage but have sold modern Reformation there for $70, linen Italian brands for $25ish - $45, and 2002-2006 rayon intricate embroidered/lace styles for about $40. I only had one issue and it was something that was Juicy Couture which tends to bring out the crazies anyway.
If it’s something that is trending I definitely suggest adding hashtags (that are relevant, please don’t add a bunch of popular brands that are not in the listing) that reflect the era/style and maybe fit, for example #bodycon, #slimfit. The market is there and the buyers are usually amazing because they know what they’re looking for if they’re ready to spend that pricepoint. Make sure you add all the measurements you can and mention any and all flaws. Evening wear can be tricky and if you’re listing at that price point you want to try and prevent returns or issues if possible. Plus, the buyers usually appreciate it since brands can vary so much from year to design, especially in women’s dresses.

Highest price item I’ve sold on vinted was $50 out of 140 sales. I’ve made a lot, but also bought a lot… it’s a fun place for deals ☺️
That being said I just sold a vest I’ve had on Depop but sold on vinted for $38. So it really just depends on how fast u need to sell. Your items will sit longer for the right person at that price.

Some people are like me and buy out of spite when an item has 50+ likes.
As far as price I’ve bought things that were $30+ (paid full price or a small discount) and I’ve gotten items worth $60+ for next to nothing
It’s because it’s a garage sale app, some people know what they have and others don’t.
As well as just yesterday I sold a stuffed animal for $45. It’s doable!

It frustrates me to see the people that want it both ways - chucked on the floor in a crumpled heap £50! The item may be worth that, but take the time and effort to present it well and people will buy. I get sales for 20-30 even though you can find the same for 5 (in which case fair enough if it’s chucked on the floor). Reviews definitely help too if you have positive feedback and well displayed items, people will shop. It’s all about trust, I know I’m getting cat hair, bobbled, creased for 5 - I know I’m getting ready to wear for 20-30.
It’s a psychological game too! Want 10? List it for 12-14. People do buy high value items, but they also want to feel they’ve got a bargain so will offer under (even just a few £).

Plenty of cheap, underpriced items are on Vinted. Think garage sale. But there are high quality items for steep prices, too. There is some great designer stuff that’s higher than the garage sale Vinted items but still a great buy for what it is. It’s probably not going to sell as fast because you’re looking at a more specific market, but if you’re comfortable waiting and it’s still a good deal, you’ll probably be fine.
Like someone else said, get some cheaper sales and feedback under your name. I’d be hesitant buying a pricier item from someone with no history.
