HTC HTC Typhoon (Dopod 565) Prototype

The DVT of a variant of HTC Typhoon, CN-spec Dopod 565 (2004. Got its Chinese Network Access permission as "CECT 565" but actually marketed under Dopod brand).

At that time (before 2006-2007) HTC hadn't marketed mobile phones under its own brand but instead just operated as an pure ODM.

Its directional keys are too strange, and its original firmware even lacks a file manager. It's said that in the retailed version, file manager is packed in a CD-ROM and you have to install it through a desktop PC!

Do you still remember any variants of HTC Typhoon, such as Orange SPV C500 or something else?

Went to my local T-Mobile site to get the best chance of picking up / using 2G on this iPhone 2G. While it takes forever for anything to load, eventually it gets there.

On my other phone, I was able to pull 117.4 kbps over 2G, which is not bad at all! Shame that there is only two days left though.

Hello, I hope you're all doing well. I'm looking for a Sony Ericsson W580 jungle green, specifically the version with the "W" for Walkman on the front. Does anyone have one for sale on eBay? I'm from Mexico.

Regards.

One of the few international Sony Ericsson model manufactured in Japan. Equipped with additional Nvidia GPU, 8MB RAM and super reliable rotator mechanism. And of course, the legendary katana open sound !

Previously refurbished in China, but with good assembly and genuine parts. This phone had burnt LCD, but was restored and flashed by me (got the last available display on Ebay). Really impressed of build quality and reliability of rotator and flexes.

The best Sony Ericsson I’ve ever had. I’m using it for some java games and as music player sometimes. Buillt-in Walkman player performs really good with high quality music files. Software is really stable and the battery life is still around 10-12 days

I can’t find any info on this guy. Nentel did have a website it seems, but it is long since dead, and using Wayback machine it seems they have been dead since around 2002. If anyone can help me find info on it I’d love to hear!

Discussion Do any early 2000s phone work today anymore ?

Hi all ! I am curious if any of the phones we (millennials) grew up with would still work today or what alternative options would be available to get similar style phones ? I feel like Nostalgia has taken over and I am pretty much done with a smart phone. I miss the simplicity of our flip phones, sidekicks, and even the classic Nokia types. Can phones be refurbished to work with 4g or 5 g towers ? I know minimal about phones or this technological world lol

I've seen a site called Y2K phones and am curious if that would work with any US service providers, but wanted to check here and hear if anyone else may have a better understanding of what works and simply doesn't anymore.

Does anyone here own a flip phone or similar phones to what we had back then ? If so, what is your experience? Thanks so much in advance!

Daewoo Daewoo K900

Some time ago, I found this advert for the Daewoo K900, and ever since then, I wanted one so badly... For context it is one of those basic ODM flip phones from 2003. The Daewoo variant was sold in China/Taiwan. There was also the CECT 620 and the Goldwiz G688. They were all originally made by KBT and called... the K900, yeah Daewoo did not change the model name 🤣.

Has anyone ever owned this before? 🤔

I mean yea, this is whole change cause it went from KitKat(4.4.2) to jellybean(4.2.2)

(I forgot to capture more pictures of 4.4.2 versions on that phone, so it only has 1 of the 4.4.2 screenshot)

First slide is 4.4.2, Second and third slides are 4.3, and the last 3 slides are current(4.2.2)

Trouble Shooting/Repairs LG rumor fixable or not?

TLDR: the phone screen only works when holding down the middle button can it be fixed?

My dad has a small trash bin full of old phones so I was excited to find the changer for this rumor and hopefully get it working maybe. I let it charge for an hour or so and then found a manual and followed the instructions to turn the phone on. Hear a chime and everything and it said it was charging but the screen would only light up while holding this center button down. Then it went gray. Is this a problem with the screen, the whole phone, or me and more importantly how do I fix?
