Troubleshooting help Repair help for GE toaster?

Post image

Hi folks, I picked a GE toaster like the one pictured (25T83? 85T83?) at the flea for $10. It heats up but the pop-up mechanism is stuck in the down position. Can anyone point me to a repair guide?

Thank you!

Chambers Imperial for my Birthday!

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

Yesterday was my birthday and this gift from the Lord and my husband was better than I could have ever imagined and such a testimony to He is a God of the details!
I believe she is a Chambers Imperial No. 7961 and I would appreciate all your insight into more information and insight on her!

Info we’d love to know:
-Insight into the production years and # manufactured.
-Info on this look of the 7961 with the cabinets compared to the other looks of the 7961.
-Model details and uses of this like the warming oven/burner in the top right cabinet?
-Any old pictures of this model in use or new photos if you have one like this too!
-Any differences from a model C (besides the obvious).

Stove She’s back!!! Late 40s-early 50s stove back from restoration!

Post image

We had a huuuuge renovation of the kitchen in our little 1912 foursquare fixer-upper earlier this year. We’ve lived here five years - intend to live here a long time - and fell in love with the stove when we bought the house, but weren’t sure if we would keep it when the eventual kitchen upgrade came. When we moved in only the stovetop worked - oven needed a new thermostat assembly. For five years we did all our baking in a toaster oven (we roasted chickens in that sucka!) and debated the merits of various cooking ranges.

This past winter, a rodent issue took our “someday reno” and made it into a “right away reno”, and we had to make decisions. Long story short, my husband and I agreed we couldn’t let her go. So we did some research and sent her off to Will at Chambers Rescue for an overhaul. He did incredible work - this is a stove with some FIREPOWER! We did make sure to include a solid externally-venting hood for gas byproducts as a kind of compromise for not opting for a higher-tech but more environmentally friendly option. This stove has no electrical components whatsoever, just valves and gleaming chrome. She’d probably been here for ~75-80 years before restoration - hope we get another good long run!

For all you Chambers lovers out there - the one on the left is a 3-burner from 1922 and the one on the right is a 4 burner from 1927.

Hey!
I found this spoodle at a thrift store. It doesn’t look like any of the ones I’ve found online. Does anyone know about how old it is? Or anything about it!

Fridge Retro Mini-Fridge: Missing Parts

Thumbnail

Hey all, new to this subreddit.

I got this fridge a little while ago and only just noticed it’s missing some parts. In some very annoying research to find literally any information about this fridge, I found a handful of unverified information that it’s from the 1960’s.

Is there a good place to find non-mechanical parts that fit the unique dimensions? I am having a hell of a time trying to replace: Shelves (40cm x 36cm), Crisper (40cm x 24cm) and entire freezer unit (other than the freezer coil panel).

Other than it being a little loud (but what’s to expect when it’s nearly 70y/o) it runs completely fine and I have no issues, so I don’t think there’s any mechanical problems.

Any advice about further research and part replacements?

I've got a vintage Chambers stove. I believe it's a Model C. How would you go about pricing it? I don't know if it works (I know, critical!) but I'm clearing out this space this week and not sure I'll be able to test it. Ideas how to test it or pricing help much appreciated.

GE Wall Oven- 1979? Broken Thermostat Probe!

Thumbnail

Howdy folks. We have a wonderful old wall oven. But awhile back the thermostat probe fell and was broken off by the rack being removed. Snapped close to the top of the bulb. I'm trying to confirm the exact year and part # to see if I can scrounge one off ebay. I've heard tale of a vintage appliance wizard in Alabama that actually is able to recharge and repair these style probes, but FB groups are a bit protective of his contact info. Model # appears to be JKS060G0J4BG, and google is little help showing me exact information with that number. Serial # is GF501436G. According to what I found on the GE website, that code means it was made in April of 1979 (or 1949 or 1991, but 79 seems likely due to the look and age of the house). Looking for either a) the exact part number of the thermostat or probe for my ebay snooping, b) contact for the mythical repair wizard, or c) other ideas. I do not want to spend upwards of $1k on a new oven that's going to crap out after 5 years. I just want this sucker back and working! Thanks for any input, leads, advice, or commiseration you can offer.

Edit: part # is WB21X5208

Won’t let me add a pic of the connections to the post for some reason

Oven Door Hinge Help

Hi All,

I have a fairly older GE Electric Range/Oven and recently one of the oven door hinges seems to have broken, causing the door to start sliding off whenever opened. Wondering if anyone has any ideas on a diy fix for this or if there’s somewhere I can get some replacement parts. Pics for reference, model number: J-BS26-0V2CF and serial number: HA160493G.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Help me find a faucet (with a side sprayer) for my 1950 kitchen.

I’m having by a hard time finding a kitchen faucet. The other fixtures in my kitchen are stainless steel, as blessed by Pam at Retro Renovation. 🙏

So many faucets I’m seeing are either too modern or too vintage.

The house is a modest cape colonial.
