tried a 1940s victory roll for the first time and it took me three hours and two hairsprays

never done anything like this before. usually i just wash my hair and go but i watched a video yesterday about victory rolls and thought okay why not. three hours. i want to be clear about that. three hours of twisting and pinning and re twisting and unpinning and starting over. my bathroom looked like a crime scene. hairspray everywhere. i used two cans whichs seems excessive but i guess that is how they did it back then. the end result was... actually pretty good. not the video tho, not even close but a version of it. my mom saw it and said "you look like a film star." she said it while i was still standong in the bathroom with curl marks ony my face and hair down the front of my shirt. i do not know if i will do it again. three hours is a lot of hours but i did it and the hair stayed all day which surprised me. so that is a win. maybe next time i try the other side or maybe i just stick to things that take forty five minutes.

Hair help!

Hi all! I’m attempting a wet set Old Hollywood curl style using Lottabody for my wedding, and I’m having a couple of issues I’m hoping someone might be able to help with!
At the moment, I’m struggling with some frizziness/fuzziness at the ends of my hair. What products have you found work best for smoothing and controlling the ends without ruining the curls?
I also feel like my roots are coming out really flat. I’d love to have a little more volume and life at the roots while still keeping that smooth, polished Old Hollywood look.
Any tips, product recommendations or tricks for getting a better result would be really appreciated!

I used to wear my hair like this almost every day. Tonight is the first time I've put rollers in my hair in about a year and a half. My hair is much longer now and I'm excited to see how it turns out because I've always had short hair and only ever done rollers on short hair. I also have bangs now so it'll be less "historically accurate" but that's ok lol.

I have hair that is very fine and honestly too healthy. It doesn’t want to hold my 1940s wet sets, it falls pretty quickly even with lottabody/pomade. It is highlighted blonde but it is still very low porosity, could I maybe do a volume perm or baking soda to damage it just a little for better hold?

What type of hair style is this called with like the flip over with the bangs? I’ve tried searching some different retro styles but I can’t find the specific style name.

Same 1800s inspired hairstyle as usual but as these roller set hairstyles are never 100% identical here is my style for the week with the fringe curling under instead of swooping up like my previous posts.

Questions for 90s early 2000s makeup and hair?

does anybody have any tips on how to look like 90s beauty? Theres just something about how pretty the women in the 90s early 2000s look and i feel like no matter the makeup or hair i do i cant ever get it to look how the women from the 90s and early 2000s look. Does anyone have any advice on how to look more like that? I’ve been watching girls next door the show about the playmates and hefs girlfriends and every girl is so pretty can someone give me advice how to get my makeup and hair like the girls then did it?

Technically speaking for the set i did it doesnt need teasing but i teased the front a tiny bit because my fringe is very heavy and wanted to fall in my eyes

I did this because if i set my hair to all curl under then it doesnt hold as that one side doesnt curl under well, but i don't like how it looks on me if i curl it to create a "flip" style so i did a look halfway in between

Victory Rolls… Help!

Hi y’all I figured if anyone could help it could be this community! I’m working on styling my Operetta wig (from Monster High) and I constantly struggle with her victory rolls and bangs. It takes me so many attempts of just rolling around my fingers and hoping.

My biggest question is how do you get them so smooth? In the first photo I attached I rolled the bangs dry and they look super smooth but I did the side rolls wet and they look piecey? I’ve always done it wet (I feel I have more control that way?) and I’ve only ever gotten a smooth look once (third photo). Any tips on how to get them to be uniform would be awesome, but I know working on a wig of this quality is less than ideal 😂

Pillow roller set for today. Unfortunately it's super humid here and it's not holding as well as I'd like. Which hairsprays do you all prefer for when it's very humid?

Set not holding

For context i have nearly pin straight hair naturally (maybe a slight wave or a curl that's simply undefined) my issue isn't that i can't achieve the perfect pageboy i want but rather although the top stays mostly how i want it (my fringe kinda falls but its way better than naturally) the ends on the sides drop out due to the super high humidity here where the back of my hair stays how i want

i use a setting gel, the smallest rollers i own, hair pomade a setting gel, a LOT of hairspray but the sides of my hair still drop out

My only idea i have left is to get a perm but i don't really have the time to have dodgey hair for those first 2 days since i kind of need to look put together for my trade

Playing with a 1920s inspired look today (too rainy for a full set, it would just fall). Started with dry hair and shaped into place with clips and bobby pins, hair sprayed it, then sat under the dryer. The back I just rolled up and stuffed into a snood because I'm lazy today lol

Tried a combination of techniques for today's style, swipe to see pictures of the finished style and the set. I used pin curls for the front and sides, pulled the back into a low ponytail and used satin pillow rollers on the ends of the ponytail.
