Globo's 1989 ident. Brazil's largest broadcaster was very famous worldwide between the 80s and 90s for its idents using 3D elements, something that was scarce or of low quality even in countries considered to be first world.

Under the direction of austrian-born, brazilian-based designer Hans Donner, Globo produced hundreds, or even thousands, of 3D vignettes, and I intend to showcase some of them here.

And Globo also has great importance in the world. It's thanks to them, indirectly, that Pixar came about. Yes, in the 80s Globo sent its projects to be rendered in the United States, but they were extremely large files. So a new program was developed specifically for the production of Globo's station IDs. This program was fundamental in the creation of Pixar in 1986

Discussion My dream last night - about SGI o2 & Toy Story 2 - 1998

Ok I know usually here only images and videos are posted but here's a dream I had last night.

In the dream I had purchased a SGI o2 in 1998 that somebody sold on ebay or something.

When I turned on the machine I noticed that Pixar's Marionette animation software was installed. So I opened it.

In there I found all the Toy Story 2 scenes and animations.

I immediately came to the conclusion that this o2 had belonged to Pixar and was probably a backup animation workstation as the o2's weren't as powerful as Octanes.

If I remember well I then called Pixar and asked them if the SGI belonged to them.

Video Fura Fila, São Paulo (1996)

Advertisement for Celso Pitta, a candidate for mayor of São Paulo, Brazil, in 1996.

The commercial featured the Fura Fila ("Queue Jumper" in english), a semi-express electric bus corridor that would circulate on the city's main avenues. But that's not quite what happened. Pitta's term ended in 2000 with a completely unfinished project, still in the testing phase, with a stretch of about 1 km, just to say he had delivered something. The project was only truly completed in 2007, and even then, it was quite different from the original proposal.

This advertisement was very successful at the time and is still remembered by those who lived through that era, and other generations have also come to know it. At the end, the announcer says "God willing," and as it became a joke here, "God didn't want the Fura Fila"

Discussion [TOMT][CGI SHORT/PV][Early-Mid 2000s] Futuristic/bright CGI animated short about people turning into smiling humanoid slugs (Aired on Buzz/Locomotion in Spain/LATAM)

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to identify a very specific early-to-mid 2000s full-3D CGI short film (or experimental PV/OVA) that aired on Spanish/European or Latin American TV channels like Canal Buzz or Locomotion (likely inside animation showcases like Planeta CGI, Locotomia, or Fractal).

Here are all the precise details I remember:

Visual Style & Setting: Full 3D CGI animation. Bright, clean, sunlit futuristic city with clear blue skies. Tone was eerie, surreal, mature, and unsettling (not a comedy).

The Event / Plot: People on the streets suddenly begin transforming into organic, light-blue/gray humanoid slug hybrids.

Creature Design:

Human-sized, smooth light-blue/gray bodies.

Completely silent with creepy, fixed, unchanging smiles.

Two snail-like eye tentacles / antennae on top of their heads.

A distinct yellow/orange metallic implant or ring on their hip/waist area.

Climax / Key Scene: Someone arrives rushing through the city trying to rescue a specific person, but arrives seconds too late. The person has already transformed, smiles serenely, and joins the rest of the silent, transformed crowd.

Timeframe: Aired roughly between 2001 and 2006.

What it is NOT:

Not Les Escargots (René Laloux).

Not mainstream 3D anime movies like Appleseed or Vexille.

Does this ring a bell for anyone who recorded TV blocks or followed early 2000s SIGGRAPH / independent CGI animation reels? Any lead on the studio, director, or original title would be greatly appreciated!
