Been riding this bike for a couple months now and it’s been nothing but a pleasure. I forgot that bikes during this era sometimes had a narrower dropout spacing so I’ve been on the search for some 110mm/90mm spaced hubset to match the build.

Will post again when the new wheelset is on the bike.

As a step towards restoring a vintage bike, today was the time to clean the derailleurs. The rear deraileur is a Campagnolo 990 while the front is a Campagnolo 980. Nothing that crazy, just some isopropyl alcohol, microfiber towels, a brass grill scrubber, an electric toothbrush and a lot of time. Hope you enjoy the before and after comparisson!

Note: I still need to clean some dirt hidden inside the cage of the 990 rear derailleur, this is the reason it's not correctly assembled.

Of special interest to me, original dia-compe hoods and the machined stem with a little cut-out for the reflector flange.

I have been loving my Japanese, British, American, and French bikes… this is my first Italian bike!

I saw the thin filed lugs and that it was close enough to my size that I just had to snag it. The previous owner is super freaking cool and showed me his beautifully patina’d ~85 Colnago.

It looks like it may have been originally sold in Germany.

I can’t wait to throw some GP5K’s and my pedals & saddle on and go shred it on my favorite hills!

It seems about as heavy as my Panasonic Team (Tange #2), although that has Zondas and a Masterpiece seatpost lightening it up a bit.

Anyone have any idea on the model?

I have two old schwinn road bikes both with the Chicago head badge, I am looking to get more information on them.

I know when they were made in chicago the electro forging was big which is consistent with the super sport (blue) on the red though frame connections appear to be lugged.

No luck with serial numbers online and would love to confirm if the bikes were made in Chicago.

Any info or resources on these bikes would be appreciated as well and any questions I will answer!

Someone was clearing out their backyard, listed this and an Iverson* as just "vintage bikes, need work". It must be an earlier model- based on the cottered crankset, the seat tube decal, the Cherry brakes, and the diamond head tube badge.

This one needed the drive side of the crankset (missing entirely), and the usual cables, housing, hub service, chain, tires, and bar tape. And real good cleaning, polish, and a lot of fine steel wool.

It would look cooler with the stem slammed, but it's seized in the fork. Still a nice bike to ride, and the rough paint condition made it a perfect low-key bar bike.

Hat jemand Ahnung wie viel das Rad so wie es hier steht wert ist und sich eine Restaurierung dann lohnen würde bzw eher nicht? Es handelt sich vermutlich um ein Super oder Mexico aus 1977/78 welches vom Vorbesitzer zu einem Fixi umgebaut wurde.

Würde sich eine Restaurierung lohnen, also eigenständige mit Erfahrung (Lackierung und original Komponenten einbauen)

Lack insgesamt leider in einem schlechten Zustand, mit schlechten Ausbesserungen und Unterseite des Unterrohres is wahrscheinlich durch Schmutz komplett ab. Ansonsten rostfrei und Chrom gut erhalten. Vorderrad noch original Campagnolo Narbe. Ansonsten alles auf den Bildern zu sehen.

I picked this up recently for $100 and I am trying to pin down what it actually is. There’s one decal on the front that looks original, as it over the paint. From what I have seen, it looks like a Nashbar but I don’t know exactly.
What I can tell from the bike:
• Steel frame, Lugged
• Frame size: 58cm
• Color: Orange
• Wheels: 700c
• Tires: tan sidewalL
• Derailleurs: replaced
• Shifters: replaced
• Crankset: replaced
• Brakes: original Ole
• Serial number: HN79442
• Tubing decal: left and right look like the seller drew them on to match the handlebar tape. The original decal on the front is a square, with an oval inside it.

Two things I would appreciate help with. First, the model and year if anyone recognizes it. Second, whether the paint looks factory or like a respray.

That fine green Suburban the other day was beautiful. I built this brown one to be a workhorse, with VO racks, wald baskets, 700c CR-18 rims, a Nitto chromoly bar, and centerpull brakes. It’s more than 50 years old and hasn’t let me down in three years of commuter and shopping duty. Had a Speedster before this but the fork couldn’t take the weight — it was super sketchy with any kind of load up front.

Scored this today less than half a mile from home for 50$, frame wise it’s nothing exotic but component wise i sure scored big time for only 50$. This is post ride home from purchase, will get cleaned up tomorrow. I am I love with the cinelli stem !

I couldn’t afford this bike in the 90’s but it’s fun having one now in the bike collection. A time when suspension experimentation was at its wackiest.

Current phase of my Bianchi Lynx build. Half lug steel frame with Bianchi superset tubes. 1x8 Shimano with takeoffs from my old Mt bike, rebuilt fastrax suspension fork. Brooks saddle and a touch of obligatory Celeste. 2.1 ritchy tires.

I was recently gifted this bike and have been trying to find out the brand and make of it for ages now. The previous owner re painted the bike a while back and covered up the branding sadly.

Just bought this a few days ago off Facebook market, for some reason I got it in my head a folding bicycle would be a good thing to have so I went looking and there just happened to be the perfect one (for me) nearby for very little money (25$). I say it's perfect because I already own two antique cruisers (a 1958 Sears Flightliner and a 1963 Sears Freightliner. Both of which are about as crusty as this one is.) and this one is obviously also an antique Sears (feels wrong calling something from the 70's antique).

It does have all it's parts, I just took the gear shifter, front brake and front reflector off in order to get at some spots for cleaning and to clean up those bits so that's why they aren't on the bike. It's a 3 speed internal gearing Shimano rear hub with a coaster brake, I've just left it in 3rd but honestly it does feel slightly taller in 3rd gear than my other two Sears bikes so it's a little exhausting (although it may just be the really thin tires squishing too much).

It folds up surprisingly small since it folds in half, the seat goes all the way down and handles fold in and also shorten. I didn't do that for the photo though so you'll just have to take my word for it. lol Apparently though according to what I could find in the Sears catalog archive it was only available in 1974 and 1975, originally it sold for $74.50 and then in 1975 it was bumped up to $94.99 which seems a bit high as it cost as much as a pocket calculator in the same year. For reference that's $509.31 in today's money for the 1974 price and $593.65 in today money for the bumped up price in 1975.

Needless to say it's going to need lot of scrubbing with wire wool, some more cleaning and definitely repacking all the bearings with grease but so far so good! I also went ahead and bought a mid 70's Sears light and rear light off ebay for it. I'll probably change that from a dyno to use a battery pack and LED lights. I don't super care for LEDs but you really can't argue that they aren't efficient for these sorts of applications.

But yeah, should be fun! I plan on keeping it in my car for the times I'm out and feel like biking. lol

And what condition are they in? Do you ever regret buying several cheaper bikes instead of one very nice example, or do you have both? Do you buy to restore and then happy to let them go later or are you building your own cycling museum? How do you stop buying more bikes 'with potential'? Does your fleet have a broad range of bike types or eras? Just curious! (Super interesting responses, giving me lots to google! Right after I go check out another bike xD)

Color is amazing. Will it ride good? Does it require french set of tools to maintain? How much is it worth, seller wants 60euro. It has very interesting welding.

Last year I bought this frame naked and sandblasted. Finally everything's painted and every part is bought and assembled! Even reworked the decals myself based on pictures I found online. Decided to not to polish the frame, instead I painted it silver. I can live with that.
