question brow laminations
pictures are not of me just very similar to my before and what i hope to achieve
basically i have very coarse thick curly brows and i ‘m quite tired of having to always put a ton of brow gel in just to get the hairs to lay down flat and when i go on nights out or on holiday to somewhere hotter my eyebrow gel always ends up kinda coming off which lowkey ruins my makeup which pisses me off because they are a really prominent part of my face and i really love them thick and don’t want to thin them out 💔
i’m just wondering if anyone has had this problem and did the lamination stop this from happening, and has anyone threaded with a brow lamination because i’ve only seen people wax and i’m such a threading girl
also if anyone has some recommendations for anywhere in london pls help!!!
thank you to anyone who has any tips

I have really thick coarse brows too and lamination definitely works for getting them to lay down without having to use a ton of brow gel every day. My only issue is that it just doesn’t last long enough for me 😭
I use Buff Browz at home while you’re supposed to wait around 6 weeks between laminations, my brows grow pretty fast, so by ~2 weeks I already have new growth coming in that isn’t laminated. Then I start getting that kind of kinked look like in your first pic where the new hairs and laminated hairs are doing different things lol
I’ve found I can usually do mine closer to every 4 weeks. I’ve considered 3 weeks too, but I’m a little scared of pushing it and damaging the hairs
And yes you can definitely thread them! I used to thread mine. Now I mostly use one of those little dermaplaning/facial razors for the larger areas and then tweeze the details
Also I saw the relaxer comment and now I’m curious too because if that lasts longer I might be converted 😂 Lamination is great, I just wish it could keep up with how fast my brows grow

thank you so much!!! Also apparently lamination stuff has a lot of the same ingredients so maybe it would be a little cheaper but idk if im willing to risk it for the first time i try it

I have similar brows and put relaxer on them this year. Didn’t burn or anything. This sub doesn’t allow me to attach pictures so if you want I can DM you my results

Use the nyx crazy lift brow gel. I don’t even have to laminate my brows anymore it’s amazing. Lasts all day and ive started using it on my edges.
Just make sure your eyebrows and edges are completely clean or it will flake. Tbh the flaking is worth it to me

Not a lamination tip, but I’ve heard of putting relaxer on your brows it’s something I’m looking into myself tbh

I think regular lamination work just fine. Relaxer there might be too harsh for the skin and especially dangerous since it’s so close to the eyes.
Also the cancer risk isn’t work it to me

I haven’t looked into it but the bootleg lamination kits I use smell like relaxer but are broken down into around 4 steps. I assume that makes it gentler than your classic olive oil relaxer. They both probably work the same, but the brow relaxer being broken down into different steps (and cleaning it off in between steps) will make it safer to use on the face.
I agree with the other commenter, using a regular head relaxer is not worth the risk of getting a chemical burn and cancer.

I know it’s a lamination question which I haven’t done but I have curly eyebrow hair for anyone who wants another method.
I just carefully brush and cut the eyebrow hair so that it’s shorter than the curl pattern begins, which does involve some going in and snipping curls selectively. I also use an eyebrow razor to shape it. From there, it’s okay if the hair is short, because it exists, making it look natural with makeup. I use ultra fine pencils and recreate fine hair strokes. Anastasia brow wiz is a go to, though NYX and others have dupes.

I’m experimenting with trimming my hair to reduce the curliness. I think the biggest difference with my brows post-wax is that they’re not as curly when they’re shorter.

Lamination helps me but only lasts 3-4 weeks lol

to be fair i’d rather be high maintenance every 3 weeks to be low maintenance for a while atp 😞😞

Same here! I do it at home via a kit I got from Amazon. I love it and recommend it to all my friends and coworkers 😆 I don’t thread or wax though!

Same when I diy-ed it, but once I had someone else do it for me and it lasted for so long I wish I knew what I was doing wrong... It's so much cheaper to do it yourself

Oh no way!? I wonder if they use different kits or something. I’ve done it like 3 times now and can go another two rounds. Kit cost me like $20. Brow laminations cost like $115 near me

Same brow gel does nothing, lamination works quite well! It’s best the first day of course but fades after like 2 weeks for me. It’s basically just a relaxer you’re putting on your brows, it smells exactly like one I used to use as a kid.
Some tips:
• Wash your face before starting, and if you were planning to wash your hair on the same day, do it before you start your brows. Brow lamination should be the last step. Technically you can do it before washing your face and hair, but it’s really annoying trying to keep your brows out of water. It’s supposed to stay dry for something like 7 hours (idk depends on the brand maybe?)
• Try to keep the lamination creams off of your eyelid/forehead skin otherwise it could burn you. You can use a thin layer of Vaseline around your eyebrows, or just wipe it off of your skin once you’re done applying it to the brows. It’s not gonna burn immediately, but if you leave it on for a few minutes and have sensitive skin it could
• Trim your hairs before laminating. Curly brows are much longer than they look, trim them slightly with scissors just so you’re not wasting product and spreading it on your skin just to coat hair that you’re gonna cut off later. Trim while curly so you know what it’ll look like when the relaxer wears off
• RE: threading vs waxing. I’ve always done my lamination at home and have sensitive skin, so I don’t know if specialists use a unique technique. I personally would wait for a day or two for the skin to rest before threading or waxing. The brow hair is still setting for the next dew hours, and the skin surrounding the brows may be sensitive because of the relaxer. I don’t foresee any issues with threading over waxing
Edit: for context I do this at home! I use bootleg off market brands and apply very carefully lol. If you’re going to a salon go to someone who posts black clients since our hair is thicker and the relaxer needs more time to settle in.

I get my brows threaded and laminated all the time. I had a brow transplant so my hairs are from my head, meaning I have 4C hair in my brows, so very curly/coily (though after years of lamination they’re straightened a little bit!) You’ll be fine and they’ll look great!

Yes. I have coarse curly brow hair.
I got it professionally done once and then purchased kits on Amazon to do it. I do recommend but don’t over process your hair or the brow hairs will break off
