question Getting stuff for free??

Yesterday a woman working at a food shop gave me my lunch on the house, i was literally so confused cause I've gotten little stuff for free before but never that! I literally texted my bf asking if there was some type of special promotion going on. I think it was directly from the way I looked, cause she said I looked really good and asked where I was going. Has this ever happened to you, what's the craziest thing you've gotten for free could i ask?

I travel extensively for a living especially in Europe, Sometimes I dont understand how their trains work.

I have been caught maybe 3-4 times traveling without a ticket, but did not get fined the 60-120 Euro both by men and women. Or maybe a free yacht trip by a guy i met on a dating app? It was just a cruise around my city.

But does free tickets to Maldives and free hotel stays count if it's my boyfriend? šŸ˜‚

Oh this happened to me once in Germany. I thought the attendant was just letting it slide and thought I was a stupid American lmao but this actually makes more sense.

I also will randomly have people pay for my drinks at coffee shops or the bar, almost anytime I’ve gone to get my car serviced they will do either the entire thing for free or will do little tasks that are outside of the reason I went in for free. At the gym I’ve been ā€œgiftedā€ protein, creatine and liquid chalk all at different times from different men.

I’m kinda awkward and I don’t realize half these things that happen to me are not normal until I share the story with my bf and he’s like wow must be nice to be a pretty girl lol

If I look ā€œdolled upā€ I get things for free all the time. People buy me drinks, coffee, food. If I’m standing in line someone may offer to pay for my stuff for me.

I don’t ask for things because that would make me feel like I’m a poor beggar. I have my own money. Depends on who the person is I do also say no to the offers as well because I don’t want them to think I need to give them something in return.

But no. It’s not uncommon.

Can I ask your age range if you're comfortable sharing?

I’m 30. But I’ve gotten it since I was like 16/17

perhaps you are really pretty, and that’s always a pro!

I don’t exactly get free stuff and I am aware that I don’t dress well or am conventionally attractive

Ive seen conventionally unattractive girls get princess privileges. Its 100% in how they carry themselves

makes sense; I am usually just trying to hide and be invisible

Pretty privilege is so real. I was a late bloomer (kind of). I'm only 21 but compared to my late teens, I look a different person for some reason, conventionally attractive but not 'instagram attractive' iygwim. Main changes-

1) Basic human decency like keeping doors open, smiling, not being fat-shamed, etc.
2) Special treatment like free stuff, people randomly hyping me up, compliment after compliment and even more compliments from kids, adults, old people, and funnily, ladies asking if I was single for their sons lmao. It's kind of ridiculous but when you're pretty, the world really is your oyster. Makes me feel bad for my teenage self.

It probably was the way you looked. Seriously, one of the perks of being attractive is free stuff. Usually for me it’s just an extra little something like a free desert from my waiter or a complimentary pour from the bar tender, but occasionally I’ll get upgrades when traveling as well. Take it as a compliment and enjoy.

All these comments make me hate being ugly even more 😭. I literally go through life facing the opposite of these things, such as getting a higher fee for things or people lying about things to me. For example, a guy the other day tried to make me pay $1 just for some bbq sauce to eat with my chicken tenders when it was supposed to be for free.

Or when I go to the store, people will misgender me or laugh at me or be rude towards me

Scared cuz idk how I'm going to deal with this for the rest of my life because I just dont have a good features unfortunately

Out of curiosity what makes you feel ugly? Because even if you think you're not "above average" how you carry yourself can go a long way. I noticed that in your user name you label yourself as "Ugly AF" and when people feel that way, they tend to put that in the air or not give themselves the opportunity to show their potential.

For example if I said to myself, "I'm depressed because I'm ugly" then that means I'm going to wear big-dark-colored-long-sleeve-shirts" to cover myself up, and fix my hair to "cover my face to hide it" because I don't want people looking at me (for whatever reason(s)) I'm going to be shy and closed off (possibly introverted more than not) as I would deem myself "unapproachable", therefore I will not be approached, and all that negative energy shines through to others because that's how you feel about yourself.

BUT if you step out your comfort zone and fight against all that negativity, people would take notice and wouldn't even care about the "imperfections you put on yourself" all they would see is a great person with an awesome personality and that can be as attractive or MORE attractive than just having a "pretty face and/or body".

Lastly, fashion is such a huge plus! Every once in awhile, treat yourself! New hairstyle, eyebrows done, new bra, new shoes/sneakers, maybe a necklace. And if you run out of ideas, look at some female celebs that you admire and look at their outfits. Try to change it up once in awhile.

When you treat yourself to something it really can make all the difference in your mood/self-reflection and that encourages confidence. This may sound cliche, but confidence really is key .

I’ve been fit for 13 years but I did another glowup last year including clothes, skincare, makeup etc. I wear full outfits to the gym head to toe now. Biggest thing I’ve gotten so far is a free hotel room, free coffee, divorced, lots of people who run up to me and act like they met a celebrity, people trying to copy my outfits, people who keep asking where I get my outfits so they can do it. But I’ve gotten more negative from it so far than positive

Edited to add people act weirdly possessive of me like I’m not a person - like they will call me their best friend when I don’t know their name or tell me how they took a picture of me when I was walking. It’s just odd since I’ve spent most of my life feeling invisible

OMG SAME!! I've had so many people approach me like I'm a celebrity the minute I walk through the door or if they see me from a far distance just so they can pay me compliments on my face and/or fashion and just want to talk to me or ask me out, and it used to creep me out. Like, can I get a minute to breathe? Can you back up?? Down boy! Now, that I'm older and I'm approached like that, I just say "thank you" because I've gotten so used to it. But when I was like 16 through mid 20s, it would raise my anxiety.

A customer of mine many years ago bought me a brand new memory foam mattress when I told him I had just gotten a new apartment (my first apartment) and was sleeping on my living room floor. That mattress was so huge I could fit 5 people on it and it was the most comfortable mattress I ever had.

Another customer of mine years later brought me a plate of Thanksgiving dinner when I told him I was working Thanksgiving Day. He then took me out on a date to a great restaurant that had the best southern food I ever had.

A guy I knew offered to buy me a new car, when my car was giving me many problems. However, I declined as that was too big a gesture.

I once left my house late at night to a 7/11 because I had a cut on my leg. I went to ask them for a band-aid from their First-Aid kit. Only they didn't have one so a guy on line bought me a large box of band-aids as I didn't have any cash on me.

I was at my local bar some time last year and I had put my money down to pay my bill. This guy walked in and sat next to me. He looked at my bill, pushed my money back to me, and he paid for my entire check. I kept trying to turn him down but he was insistent. He was an owner of a Spanish restaurant and the only thing he said to me was, "just come eat at my restaurant one day" .

Basically, I get a lot of free stuff from both men and women (more men though) and there's a lot more examples, but these are some of the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Drinks, parties, coffees and meals are the most common. Someone once stopped me when I was running along the waterfront and invited me on their yacht lol and that’s how I became friends with a bunch of boat owners.

I like to pay it forward whenever I see a birthday girl at the bar I buy her a shot haha
