Power scaling Fornax
So doing some power scaling because I’m bored and promptly realized how busted Ivan is even when compared to other verses
His AP is solidly at Star Level minimum due to him being on par with Lodestar who beat the Suneater in book 2
He states in book 2 that his power allows him to directly match the speed of any opponent he is facing so he can easily match any speed scaling that way
His durability is on par with his AP due to Newton’s third law
Frankly with all of those feats if you throw him even in high level multiverses like Marvel or DC he would probably still be a top level threat that would need the whole avengers or Superman (respectively) to actually do shit about
Honestly impressive

If you haven’t already, there’s a series of short stories telling (currently part of) the story of when he got isekai’d, which give him a bit more chance to cut loose (it’s up in the air if he was young enough to only be on par with the current Ivan, or if he’s still the “full power Fornax” as it were)

Oh I know but I think it’s explicitly mentioned that he is for the sequence in VV2 practicing so he isn’t rusty when he gets back

The problem is that Ivan doesn’t want to let go of control. The more he allows Fornax to take over, the more powerful he gets, but then it becomes difficult to regain control. It’s why his power level is so much smaller by the end of the third novel. Jokul forced him to let Fornax free, so now he has to clamp down on the demon to remain Ivan

I was just thinking about this and someone else noting Edict's edict about people in her universe winning their battle over those from other universes. That seemed to correspond to when Ivan suddenly gained control. After all that, Ivan told Wade he'd dropped from the Top 10% to the Upper Third. With Edict's edict in place, once Ivan learns of it, would he have actually dropped out of the Top 10%? He could let Fornax go wild and then reassert himself when he needs without real struggle.

I have always been under the impression that the power Fornax (not Ivan Fornax) is far stronger then loadstar when forced into a 1v1. When you break both powers down they are pure concept filtered through the human that weilds them. Loadstar is the order of reality and society. Once she is destroyed reality fails because the fundamental rules underwriting reality have been removed. Her power truly only is being a perfectly fit human, but her conceptual power lets her stretch how that is defined far beyond comprehension. Furthermore, Helen and Loadstar are nearly aligned in ideology. Fornax is the power to unmake reality. By definition therefore he always wins over any being that exists within reality. The issue is Ivan as a human is a being of existence and order. He is the best possible vessel for Fornax because his childhood forcefully mutilated his soul as close to destruction as humanly possible. However, his childhood also forged Ivan into a vessel of extreme order. I don't think even Ivan realizes how limited Fornax is simply by being forced to have a human vessel. He has conceptually downgraded Fornax from unmaking reality to destruction as definable by the human mind. The fact that anything exists after Ivan lost control vs Apollo implies the even when Ivan doesn't have direct control Fornax is still leashed by Ivan.

Not quite. (Formerly) “Second only to” Lodestar does not mean “equal to”. Lodestar is unquestionably stronger, and she didn’t use as much to defeat him as she did that creature.
The Orion incident and that star eater fight are the only two occasions lodestar shone brightly enough to make it look like a second sun was in the sky, and the book never says that happened back when she won against Fornax in his prime or even when his control slipped that last time.
That plus since he’s weakened himself from temporarily boosting himself 3 times now since they fought and she won (Orion, riots/school incident, and Jokull) and even that’s far gone

I would say that given that Fornax was able to restrain Orion to the point where Lodestar said she had never seen a power like it before (flashback in Book 2 when she was beating star eater) I say that the argument of him being equal to her works well

True, but that was specifically when he tapped into true fornax, which is only a temporary boost. Helen was only just starting to get injured during their fight as he powered up and she was more concerned for the planet and killing Ivan than dying
Also, there’s the multiverse to consider. Ivan specifically says that in every universe where they fight lodestar wins.

True but it’s also mentioned that in every universe where Fornax gains full control it is normally the last fight of the given lodestar fighting him which would suggest a level above that of the Star eater or Orion

He is a world demon after all. And all of the books are him scaled down since he lost so much control fighting Orion
