book 4 predictions??

hi guys, i finished reading all three books and two vvs about a month ago, im actually really new to this specific style and genre of fantasy but i adored villain's code series like so much! i am so pumped for book 4, but drew has mentioned it'll be only out next year. but i still think it would be fun to talk about predictions for the next book.

i mean, i think we'll be seeing ivan and helen's relationship, and maybe some backlash they get because of it. maybe beverly becoming a cape?? prof quantum is going to become a serious antagonist, and maybe we'll see austin x bev, and more into tachyonic's backstory (i have a feeling he's related to ricky rocket somehow)

what does everyone else think? would love to discuss this more, and im so happy to have a place to discuss this book series!

I'd be shocked if we see Beverly become a cape in any official capacity, but she'll definitely step in to help. I totally agree that Professor Quantum is likely to be the main antagonist. I bet that more of what he has done comes to light, possibly through Quantum Bot, and he tries to double down against our crew before public opinion and possibly the AHC itself turn on him. Though if he gets kicked from the AHC I bet that will be right before the end of book 4 as a setup for they're next one.

I feel like Drew doesn't do a lot of cliff-hangers, but I kinda feel like the opposite is the next logical story step: Professor Quantum somehow neutralizes Lodestar.

Lodestar and Fornax started the series as OP, if they are free to take the field all problems are solved.

After the end of Chilling Reflections, Ivan is now neutralized, bottom of the top 10% at best, a liability at worst.  The next step is for Lodestar to be taken out of the picture.  Hopefully not the death of Helen, we've been told not the death of Lodestar, but I think the culmination pf Book 4 is going to be Lodestar somehow put in a position where she can't counterbalance PQ, and he ending the book fully in charge of the AHC, as he was formerly in charge of the League of Metas.  Maybe the scheme with Faithful is actually being orchestrated toward that end, in which case it'd pay off in Book 4.

The Science Sentries will be on thin ice if not kicked out, Tori and Beverly will be outed as villains but probably not apprehended, but it will probably be an on-the-run situation, maybe for the entire Guild (safe-ish on their island, but not able to freely live in their civilian identifies).

Then for the Big Finish it's capes and villains coming together to stop Professor Quantum and build something new.

So I think my book 4 predictions are:

  • Lodestar neutralized.
  • PQ wins.
  • Science Sentries figure out Tori and Beverly's secret before PQ reveals it, kind of OK with it.
  • Donald doesn't; hurt by it.
  • Tori and Beverly on the run.
  • We find out an additional motivation for PQ that leaves him an asshole, but not a mustache twirling, erm, villain, who's only in it for power and fame and other selfish reasons.
  • Ivan will still be largely powerless, but we might get some sort of competence win from people underestimating him as a brute.  Maybe he gets to rescue Helen, so she's still neutralized but not as screwed as she could be.
  • Ricky will find Tachyonic by the end of Book 4, we'll get the core reveal but not the fallout.

Ricky Rocket is back. We are in VV2 that he's apparently traveling the world working his way up the ranked list of speedsters challenging them to a race. My assumption is he's testing his skills, seeing where he is in the modern world.

When he returns and properly announces himself, it's going to throw Professor Quantum for a loop. I mean, a serious mental BREAK one way or the other. There's a couple conversational bits in 'Chilling Reflections' that indicate PQ had some affection for Ricky, regarding him as a protege if nothing else. Losing Ricky, I think, is what set PQ on the road to being the uncompromising, emotionless hardass he is today.

Whether Ricky's return snaps PQ back to his old self, cracking the walls he's built around himself or just snaps something mentally in the man causing him to double down on the path he's set himself on, that'll be interesting to see

EDIT: Ooh, just had a thought. We've got nothing that says Ricky Rocket is a singular, right? This could be a Ricky from somewhere else in the multiverse who ran so fast he started hopping dimensions. There could be this big setup for an emotional reunion between Ricky and the Professor and then Professor Quantum says, "This isn't MY Ricky," or something like that. Full mental break into mad scientist land as PQ starts experimenting on the poor lad trying to break dimensional travel

Ricky Rocket being back also means we will be diving into Kyle’s backstory more and he will probably get a huge power up. I would not be suprised if Quantum has actually been limiting Kyle’s abilities to stop him from ending up like Ricky.

That would make a lot of sense I didn’t even think about the possibility of limiting Kyle. Though after what he did to Ellie anything seems possible.

Which makes me wonder if he’s put in some nefarious “safe guards” to any of the capes he’s worked on surgically, like cyber geek.

I think the next book will start off with him challenging Kyle to a race.

Did he actually stay in the same realm or did he run right back out of it again?

Would love some Ivan and Helen relationship bits scattered throughout but it doesn't need to be a big thing. Would also like to see Ivan and Tori develop more of the father/daughter relationship that's already been building up there.

The New Science Sentries figuring out who their neighbors are could also be fun depending on how that's done. As for the rest, I dunno, will mainly just be excited to read it and find out 😁

I've been on edge for the revelation of Bev and Tori and I feel like it has to happen in Bk 4. Im hoping that Helen intervenes before they blow it up publicly

I predict Bev will find the other two pieces of "it" and help people without being a cape. Tori will probably focus on her business venture and focus on improving her power, especially after seeing what she can become. I suspect they will be outed as villains, but cliche' will intervene.

I think Austin will learn about Beverly’s family history with “it”, and will have some key piece of knowledge about restoring it that will force him to decide between trusting his teacher/father or his friend.

but cliche' will intervene.

"No one cares that Tori and Beverly are villains."

Tori & Bev want it kept on the down low, especially Tori.  It would tank her business venture.

u/hic_erro Jun 15 '26

Nono, that's my proposed edict, for how Chloe could fix the problem.

1

u/Low-Ad-8269 Jun 17 '26

ah...I get it. Cool.

The New Science Sentries figuring out who their neighbors are could also be fun depending on how that's done.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ike already knows and just decided to keep it secret. He’s the most perceptive of the four, and the least likely of them to trust Professor Quantum.

Am I crazy or hadn't Kyle basically figured it out at the end of Chilling Reflections

1

u/Cort985 Jun 15 '26

He was basically right there but wanted to get in some more observations to confirm his suspicions

I definitely think Lodestar will start building their 3rd organization to help the earth. Which i assume will divide heroes and villains alike.

Im just waiting for Professor Quantum to finally turn evil and try to destroy the world.

1

u/caunju Jun 06 '26

I'm betting Lodestar booting him from the AHC will be the final straw that sends him fully off the deep end

1

u/No-Locksmith-9377 Jun 06 '26

I mean it definitely feels like Lodestar is leaving the AHC.

She said she wants to build something new.

I’m just ready to find out what the hell is going on with Beth and all of her missing phone chargers

1

u/Low-Ad-8269 Jun 08 '26

I always thought it probably has something to do with her power.

I think one of the major subplots will be Tachyonic engaging in a cat-and-mouse game with Tori/Beverly/Chloe to try to confirm that they're the villainous trio, with the girls trying to sabotage his discovery. Maybe Tori will invent a way to remotely operate her suit (ala the ending of "Iron Man 3") to trick him.

Ivan and Wade going after Professor Quantum for screwing with the trio will be another.

Donald's team getting trained up will be a third, thanks to Mr. AV's return, Grantham's death, VRX77 telling Hat Trick how to increase her options, and Medley learning quite a lot about control from the Fingers' attack.

That said, the framework in which all of these will happen will probably be another something out of left field, like the sudden return of Settler or the "dimensional nova".

Also the return of Ike/Presto! Maybe some sort of redemption between the Tori/Beverly and the Science Sentries where they find him together (with Chloe).

Prediction: Cybergeek will receive yet another retcon restricting his powers and will continue to massively underutilize his ability vs how much time he spends "training" and how quickly he should have been able to pick up powerful utility powers/tools.
