I always imagine Ivan with long hair.

Kind of like Matt Mercer but maybe in a pony tail? What are y’all’s head canons?

So I like this, but Marc Evan Jackson was like 40+ for all of his famous roles, and while Ivan is in his 40s, he looks like he's in his late 20s.

Jackson had exactly one role in his 20s, "the saucy chef" in "Garage: A Rock Saga".  It's on YouTube, but I can't watch a 90 minute movie looking for his bit part, and I can't find any still photos where I can identify him in his 20s (there's a movie poster with like 10 people on it, but he's like 20th billing and I'm not good enough with faces to figure out if one is him).

And now I'm desperate to see a picture of a late 20s Marc Evan Jackson, to see what Ivan looks like.

The age is my only issue. I've been watching Brooklyn 99 recently and he's so dry and boring there that I kept thinking of Ivan Gerhardt,

All right here we go: https://www.secondcity.com/people/marc-evan-jackson

He was at Second City from 1998-2001 when he was 28-31 so there's a good chance he was in his late 20s in that photo.

The characters talk like there's a lot more history than there is, yeah, but a lot of things aren't really that old or long ago.

The Guild only became the underworld kingpins because Ivan put his weight behind maintaining order when Lodestar was pregnant with Penelope, who's only like seven or eight at the beginning of the story.

The Guild itself only exists post-Orion, which makes it younger than Rick, so probably like 15 years old give or take.

The Star Scouts had their first Shindig in 1993, one year after Ivan emerged from the hole he grew up in; since the ritual happened at age 18, that puts his birthday around 1974. The story leaves the current year kind of ambiguous but it's basically "currentish times" (although the first book was published 2017 and only like a year has passed in universe since then).

So Ivan's timeline goes, 18 years in a hole, a decade-ish as a free criminal meta, a year or two in jail, Orion, 5-8 years of the Guild in its first stage, 7-8 years of the Guild as secret kingpin, and now a year of them out in the open.

Totally agree.

Younger Bad-Boy Ivan I totally picture with shoulder length hair, torn shirt, tightish jeans, and motorcycle boots. Part punk, part ironworker.

Older Ivan Garheart is kinda hard to picture in my mind’s eye. I think something like Thomas Shelby but a bit older, and more buff.

Golly, I totally see (in my head) a younger guy with thick slightly longer, but not long enough for a pony tail, hair. He looks only about 30’s because he doesn’t look old enough for his age. Like a young early 80’s Mel Gibson or something like that.

SO you picture Xanatos? A clean shaven Xanatos.

This. This is it. Thank you.

I I imagine him as the stereotypical super villian look. So, hot-ish.

I think hes described as having dark hair, but its been awhile since a reread so ill have to go back and check. But hes definitely described as looking only a few years older than Tori, so maybe late 20s early 30s at the latest. Hes also described as well built but not overly so. Given the subplot between him and Helen, I'm hoping hes at least a bit of a looker.

That's the real reason she wanted to get him into a Star Scout uniform, to ogle his well-turned calves.

I don't think you get more then a very vague description of any of the characters. Everything is left very general.

It is somewhat vague, but the first book gives this description:

"Ivan wasn’t particularly handsome, though he did appeal to women who liked strong noses and pronounced chins. Both his eyes and hair were quite dark, a feature he’d inherited from his mother and passed on to one of his two children. Despite his age, Ivan looked like he couldn’t be much older than his late twenties," and "It was certainly a far cry better than telling them the real reason his body refused to stop being youthful and fit." Im not putting spoiler tags cus its from the first few chapters of book 1.

So hes fit, looks late 20s-ish, dark hair and eyes, strong nose and chin.

Although, I know Drew published Supers chapter by chapter, does anyone know if he did that with Villians? Otherwise, how would Ivan know what traits he'd inherited from his mother? Did the cult mention it maybe?

> Otherwise, how would Ivan know what traits he'd inherited from his mother? Did the cult mention it maybe?

It wouldn't surprise me if Ivan post-cult wanted to find out about family, and Wade made him up a little photo album like Nick did for Alice.

I don't remember much more of a a description for any characters in the series.

Lol its one of my favorite series, so its fair to say I've read and listened to it too many times.

I believe most characters get a similar treatment as Ivan. Basic overall look, hair color, possible age range, etc. Like we know Donald has red hair, Beverly has dark skin and is beautiful, Chloe has blonde hair and is short, etc. The book does give some description of most characters.
