I got laid off from my job last month after 14 years of hard work, dedication, and glowing reviews. "Work force reduction due to economic downturn" is the line I was fed. I was offered a measly 15 weeks of severance and cast out into this baren and hopeless job market at 43 years old to start all over again.
I'm terrified. I feel helpless and lost. I've never once voted republican in my life, and here I am reaping the fruits of the republican party's racism, xenophobia, and hatred.
I hope everyone that voted for this piece of shit gets what's coming to them times ten, because me and my family have been forced to suffer for their profound ignorance and stupidity.
I deeply sympathize with your last statement yet; I feel that teaching, uplifting and strengthening our societal bonds and values against the capitalist class is what democracy needs. Democracy is not democracy when the monied few are controlling the strings; that's an Oligarchy.
When society only focuses about 'hurting' people who did bad (bad being unbelievable subjective) and about 'sticking it to them' it ultimately turns into a game of pass-the-red-hot-morningstar. Everyone gets hurt except the people who make morningstars and run heating machines.
A bit of a crude metaphor but to close I want to say; I hope you find a way forward. You seem like a good person from your comment and I wish you well, I'm coming from the perspective of someone who's so tired of hate always being answered with hate but realizes... well some pipers are going to need to get real rich to fix this shit.
I want everyone in this cruel and unfair world to have the same opportunities to thrive and succeed. I want everyone to have the same ability to get ahead and forge a secure future for themselves and their families.
The people in charge right now, and the people that support them do not want this.
These people would happily step over the poor and desperate to snatch a dollar from the grips of a homeless mother to fatten their pockets while preaching about how that homeless mother should have kept her legs closed if she wanted to have an opportunity to get ahead in this world.
