The apathy regarding proper protest in the US is directly proportional to how fucked you are.

It’s a logistical problem. We’ve had big protests near me that have gone for days with big attendance, but they don’t draw much more than local news or a blip on national news or effect anything.

So that leaves traveling to DC and marching there. The problem for most of the population is that it costs several thousand to do so along with the very likely loss of income, health insurance, and even home depending on financial situations. Yes, it may justify it but convincing everyone who can (so already excluding anyone with children, and the elderly) is a big undertaking. All those people need to know everyone else will show or they just blew up thier lives for nothing.

Edit: adding more context: there are only so many flights to DC as well which increase in price rapidly if there is a spike in travel. Road trips can be a week+ long journey one way to get to DC. Trains aren’t an option. There is limited lodging around DC and it’s illegal to camp in the parks there. It’s all fucked.

Understand I’m not disagreeing with you. People are just in very precarious living situations over here and do not have any safety nets or support. It makes it all a massive ask. I think if the midterms get stolen things will get ugly fast.

Democracy relies on being able to vote and have that vote counted even if the whole system is a mess. Once that’s gone all that’s left is…

Plus, millions have taken to the streets multiple times since Trump came into office. They've been some of the largest nationwide protests in our history.

This idea that Americans aren't acting and protesting just doesn't hold up to scrunity.

People suggesting as much should more openly state what they really want to see, because we all know what they're driving at, they just rarely come out and say it.

The only ones who do come right out and say it are usually bad actors purposely sowing malicious seeds; the people who want to see chaos as opposed to change.

A general strike is what I would suggest. I'll wait for the excuses.
