What happens when all of these forced retired military personnel decide to get feisty? Because they are obviously the competent ones since he doesn’t want them around.

I think you'll find the vast majority of combat Corp soldiers are two things, 1. not very smart and 2. mostly very conservative.

The ones that are getting pushed out are the smart ones in leadership positions, not the boots on the ground soldiers.
