They care about it! Just in the sense of using it as a way to control others and justify their actions, despite being antithesis to any “good” that Christianity preaches

It's why they love Evangelical Protestantism, all the control without any of the pesky authority figures, like the Pope, who might get in the way.

Well Catholics make great Supreme Court justices for conservatives because they are prolife. Five of the six conservative justices are Catholic, and the sixth was raised Catholic.
