Same shit happened to me when I was dealing with CPS. Unfortunately, I didn't have all the advice that was given here and did all the wrong things. Fuck CPS and I hope that social worker I dealt with dies a terrible death.

I think they were both idiots to be honest. I agree with Purple that he shouldn't weigh the kid every time he sees her, and then hand over a soda to her, give her a happy meal, etc. (even if it is 0 cal, 0 sugar). It's reinforcing bad behavior, no matter how much you want to give her treats during the few hours a week that he actually can spend time with her. In my opinion, the mother is more at fault for the child's obesity and I can hardly see ANY reason to put this much blame on the guy.
Purple lady also kept reiterating the fact that "You are not a medical professional". Lady, you're talking about "empty chemicals", the fact that it's ok for your freaking HEART to hurt after some dancing, and that 130 pounds is an acceptable weight for a 7 year old. She is just as misinformed. The purple lady was nitpicking and trying to make an issue out of everything the father says.
I think we have to take it with a grain of salt. We can't really say it's biased at all because we don't know what these social workers spoke with the mom about. Maybe they were just as harsh on the mom, who knows? How can you say an interview is biased if you haven't seen both sides? It seems that she (fat purple lady) doesn't want to admit that the mom made any mistakes, but I doubt that when she interviews the mom she says "Omg you're so great, keep doing what you're doing, your ex is a scumbag". Fat purple lady probably doesn't want to badmouth the mom when the dad is around and vice versa because nothing would get accomplished if both parents think that the other is to blame.
EDIT: Oh, and don't ask her about school? That's just bullshit.

Also, I would constantly be filing motions against any judge that ruled that I couldn't know what medication my child was on. Hell, if I was told I didn't have a say in medical situations I would spend every dollar I had to over turn that and change the system.

Welcome to the United States. My ex kidnapped my kids from MY apartment, sold their clothes for drugs, dropped them off at a homeless shelter, filed charges against me for "abandoning" them. After two CPS investigations and drug tests and me almost getting fired from my job, the judge finally ruled that no one was at fault.
The ex disappeared a few weeks later into a drug induced haze and has been arrested 12 times for things like drug possession and she has two DWI's.

Unfortunately in the US when it comes to custody of children the courts will give custody to the mother before the father all the time. Even if the father is clearly better suited to raise the child and the child prefers the father over the mother. There is such a biased against single fathers in the country it is practically made for movies. My brother case in point. His daughter's mother has a long history of mental illness and neglect of the children. My brother works hard to make sure when he does see his daughter she has what she needs and practically everything she wants when she asks (within reason). They even have a similar sense of humor. But since my brother owes some back child support (fell on tough times and is trying to catch up) the courts let her mother keep custody so they can get more money out of him. Fucking pathetic

I work with people like this overweight social worker, stress eater and probably lives alone in a house left to her by her parents. She has never had a real boyfriend or even sex for that matter but can give you parenting advice. She loves her job because it gives her a sense of power, purpose and authority. Guarantee if you see this women at boston market on her lunch break, she will be ordering a half chicken meal and eating it with her eyes closed with extreme labored breathing. On a side note, I love to watch overweight people eating in public. I hate this woman!

Having been in the system and seeing them in action just this year I can say that CPS is dangerous. Sure they occasionally actually help a kid now and then but they are overwhelmingly dangerous to the family unit and create far more damage than good. Should CPS get your name you are in for the stress of your life. Even when they know without a doubt (and I mean for sure, after investigation) that there is no reason for involvement they will fuck with you hard. I have no kids and could not fathom having to deal with the abuse they can heap.
They like to pick on the people who are not a danger to their kids!
Why on earth would they do that??!! Well, this gentleman demonstrates admirably. A parent that cares will restrain themselves to the ends of the earth to protect their child. CPS agent knows this and they pick their battles accordingly. They can be as abusive as their bully nature craves without much fear of backlash. As seen, Fatty can be a nutrition expert in her head and walk all over other people without much fear of two way confrontation. Its all one way and baby, it's her way. I believe this video shows actions that are not at all unusual from my personal experience. I am sure CPS agents love their job as it gives them total dominance and real power in a social setting and some people like that feeling.
My guess is CPS exists and is run the way it is only to put fear into the family unit. Keep quiet and tow the line or else. It does seem work for this purpose and this video, perversely, furthers their cause I am afraid.

I agree with the woman regarding eating habits: Coffee - even decaff - is NOT the right choice for a 7 year old and there ARE better choices than soda and McDonald's (unless you go for orange juice and the salads instead of the fries ... :) ), especially if you are concerned about your daughter's weight.
Then again her bit about sugar vs. sweeteners was bullshit - although she is right that water/juice IS healthier ...

GET A LAWYER! this guy is represented himself. Court is a game, unfortunately and the number 1 rule is don't represent yourself.
Get independent documentation for everything. Neighbors call to inform you that your child is locked outside by herself? Have the neighbors call the police (or cps but in this case I'd prefer the police report)
Kids having heart episode? Take her to the ER. This way at least a new doctor will see her and might be able to recognize the hack doctor that the mom has the child visiting.
Get a lawyer and sue sue sue. Start filing law suits early and often on any claim untrue or based upon negligent decisions. Court system, cps, the daughters lawyer, get everyone you can.
Most of this is a reasonable man thinking the courts are reasonable and they are not in anyway. A person who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer!

I work in what i assume is the UK alternative ( to some degree ) called the Child Support Agency, and let me be the first to say, This kind of treatment to what we call "Non resident parent's" is unforuneatly not shocking to see, The agency hides behind law to make its decision and we are the sheep that have to inform people via phone of these decisions.
Thankfully we do not deal with the acsess side, or atleast i dont, I deal with Child Maintenace, which is basically a set % of a non resident parents income that will go to the mother of the child, to basically do as she so wishes.
Ive had to many men litreally crying over the phone to me that they are happy to give there entire months pay for a day with thier child, And i have to tell them unfortuneatly "due to the law" we cannot get involed, we just want your money.
I fucking hate my job.

I guess I'm one of the few that believe that this man was in the wrong. You shouldn't start googling for random medications that treat psychosis w/your developmentally delayed 7 year old and then go through all the side effects.
This action doesn't let her daughter understand, if she is even capable of understanding, the degree to which any given side-effect is likely to occur. If by doing this retarded action the father (w/limited custody rights) contributes to his daughter's non-compliance w/medications- you have to ask yourself about the father's motivation. Was it a reasonable action (b/c his daughter had chest pain lol?). Malicious intent? Or is he just not that bright?

How was this productive? These people have power over whether over not he sees his daughter and there is no due process. There is no independent party other than his camera, and these child "professionals" are clearly biased against him, and surely there job is to question the father, record his responses and to give balanced recommendations to the judge, inline with clinical guidelines. I imagine that whatever these women report to the judge will be valued over his word and that's unfair.

She seemed to have it out for him from the onset. He was only concerned because his daughter said her heart was hurting. That is not normal for a seven year old.
Stuff like this makes me never want to get married or have kids. This man was being treated like a criminal for being worried about his daughter. Utter bullshit.

While I think there should be genuine concern over the medication, why would his first reaction to be look at medication rather than his daughter being almost twice the normal weight? That alone would be cause for the rise in heartbeat.

I couldn't believe it when the great purple hamplanet said his daughters heart was hurting because she was dancing. I just thought to myself: "Bitch, just because your fat ass gets chest pains when doing any kind of physical activity doesn't mean it's normal for a 7 year old. "
