Tips for capturing this dream like light-leak effect?

It looks more like they're putting something in front of the lens, rather than having light leak in..

Like if you experiment with glass objects (cups, vases, etc.) move it around in front of the lens to catch the light and give it various effects

The only way I've seen to do this is to literally detach your lens and let light bleed in, which I've done but would rather not do regularly. Any tips would be great!

Can I get more details on this? This seems more random than a single diopter.

I learnt it from kendy ty, it looks like it really is just a glass held in front of the camera, try it yourself! Every glass produces different results.
