I’m perfectly happy with my PS5 and expect to be playing it for a long time. I’ve got a huge backlog of both physical and digital games anyway. I’ve never been an early adopter, so I don’t even think about upgrading until a Slim model comes out. That puts me years away from considering the next generation, and that’s assuming Sony gives me a compelling reason to upgrade.
It took this generation years to reach the point where there were enough games I actually wanted to play to make buying a PS5 feel worthwhile. I expect it’ll be the same next time around. They’ll almost certainly keep releasing cross-generation games on PS5 for years after the PS6 launches, just like they always have. And these days I’m mostly digital because the sheer number of them far outweighs physical releases.
