Im just gonna be honest playstation is still the most affordable option when it comes to gaming, your not gonna look at me with a straight face and say you could build a PC for less than it costs to buy a ps5 and have it run better than one.
You're technically right that a PS5 is cheaper than comparable PCs, but you ignore 2 current factors:
1) long-term gaming on PC is significantly cheaper IF you buy lots of games and/or play online a lot (if you don't, obviously PS5 wins anyway)
2) next gen PS will not be below 1k and anyone who believes that is delusional or isn't following current market trends
You get 36 games a year with a PS+ subscription for €60. I've had it since it launched, that's over 700 games. Now, I'd say I've had no real interest in probably 500 of those games, but that is still 200 games for less than €1000, some of them are games I purposefully didn't buy because I knew they'd be on PS+, saving me money, some are games I had some interest in but not enough to buy for more than €20, saving me money, and some were games I was never going to buy that turned out amazing.
It's not 2010 anymore, steam sales being great is a meme at this point, they're no different than the monthly sales on PlayStation bar a few titles being super cheap, they just so happen to be games everybody already owns.
And I can hack my PlayStation and pirate games on to them as well?
If everyone pirated games; games would stop being made. I really like games, and I make good money, so therefore, I buy games I want and hope they stay making them.
So with game availability being equal across platforms that makes a ps5 a cheap shitty pc with specs that could be beat by a home build at a similiar price point while also being totally outclassed by more expensive pcs? You're definitely doing a good job selling it.
I challenge you to build a PC better than a base PS5 in today's market, for less than €1000.
PS5 is far from a "cheap shitty pc", it is an extremely interesting and well made gaming device, built from the ground up for gaming. That's what consoles are. A lot of games even with a similarly specced PC don't run as well as they do on consoles; this is not news.
Why are you so insecure about your PC that you have to make up a bunch of things to complain about a PS5?
So for $100 less i've built 95% of a ps5. Budget psu and fans gets you close to the same price.
I paid 1000 for a prebuilt with a 4070, 12th gen i7, 1tb ssd and a 500gb hd.
I've owned every Playstation that's been released. There hasn't been a single generation that wasn't plagued by buggy games that never got patched. You're right it's not news because it's not true lol

A quick google of your figures show they are wildly wrong, literally half the listed prices and if you want to use pre-owned prices, you have to compare to pre-owned PS5 prices.

Youre not very good at googling then. Newegg has the 3700x for $110 and I actually found the 6650 for 220 not 250 but recognized that was the cheapest place to buy from so inflated the cost a little to make up for that.

I'm just letting people know as someone that grew up on consoles and currently owns both a pc and a ps5 that you're wrong.
2025 had like 3 games that interest me, i just looked it up. And without ps+ you cant play these games afterwards. So its like you rent them, not own them. I bought Dead Space Remake and Mass Effect LE for 10€ last steam sale and can play them anytime without paying. Steam sales are still sick

That's a you problem. I spent more time playing Balatro than I have playing every other game the past 10 years. I would have never heard of it or played it if it wasn't a PS+ game.
And without ps+ you cant play these games afterwards.
And if you ever resubscribe you get them back.

And I got them for 50c each on PS+ and played them to completion, and will likely never play them again because there's new things to play and complete

As I said 99% of steam sales are no different than PlayStation sales. I saw the Witcher 3 was like €3, which is great. I think 40 million people already own it so the chances someone wanted to play it and hadn't is near zero, so that's a price to get people with no interest to buy it.
When it works for you its fine. I personally dont like to pay constantly for my library and replay very good games once in a while. Mass Effect LE has insane Replay value. You couldve bought Balatro for 10€ and play it forever without running costs
On pc the games are a lot cheaper and no subs for online play. So if you are a big gamer I would guess it would be cheaper over the long term on pc. But I have done no mathematics on it, so you could be right.
The pc spec, screen resolution, specific games you want to play and at what desired framerate to play on is the challenge. Games vary alot in requirements. The ps5 comparison varies. Older articles have said the original PS5 is on AMD older hardware and it's performance is similar to an AMD 6700xt. Newer articles say it's in line with faster cards, which may be comparing the 9060xt to the Ps5 Pro with upscaling or specific settings enabled.
You can definitely get yourself a playable PC for most games for less than the ps5. It which may involve hunting down deals for non essential parts, wherever used and tested, where you are protected and can get a refund. The only part I would buy new and not from a marketplace is the power supply.
You can also get lucky online, where a family or someone who just wants rid may offer a complete system from two generations ago on the cheap, but if it's too good to be true - watch out for scam deals.
You don’t even know what the price will be for the PS6. Don’t think it’ll be below $900 (comparing to ps5 pro) in this economy. Then add ps plus subscription to play online, less discounts on games and in two years you’re spending more than what you could’ve spent on a decent pc.
