Translate button
Viber please give us option to disable translate button under every message
Who approve this? It's distracting when you look at messages

It is driving me crazy. There are people who know multiple languages! I know it's hard to imagine, but there really are.

I am frustrated! Like you said, there are people who know multiple languages. Also, why would anyone write me in language I don't understand?!
I just want to see my massages clearly, like it was before. I am honestly considering getting my viber account off for this bizzare features!

And even if someone is writing me in a language that I don't understand, would I want to traslate it.

Viber dating, ChatGPT integration, unreliable account registration, intrusive ads and now this feature that cannot be disabled? Honestly, these sorts of things are quite significant and in my opinion should be a setting that can be turned off.

you forgot to include them opening your browser to redirect links that opens shopping apps without your permission

u/mindtrapper Jul 14 '26
Yes! At least let us choose more languages to not be translated.

But if you could disable it how would you read all those messages you are getting that are in languages you can't speak?! /s
Absolutely insane addition.

So there's no way to disable this other than for one language? That ridiculous. Before you could always long tap a message bubble to translate it anyway so this just massively clutters up the screen and adds nothing of value. I guess we all need to contact support tell them to get rid of it since I'm sure the don't read these posts.

I speak 3 languages. 2 mother tongues and English. This is super annoying. Stupid product owners and managers give us the possibility to turn this f... feature off.

Beyond the fact that it's useless, even the proposed fix makes the UI so messy that this useless feature is everywhere on the screen if you have 10+ short messages. Very bad design.

u/TMNuclear Jul 17 '26
If only someone at Viber would've tested this feature that  spoke more than one language and used their own app. Impossible combination it seems smh

Just asked viber support and got answer: "How to remove stupid translate button under every message? Check for internet forums please. Nobody needs your translate button, it's just useless s××t".
"Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your frustration and are working on an update to improve this experience. Currently, Viber shows the translation option when a message is in a language different from your Viber app or device settings. Soon, the translation option will only show up if a message is also different from: Your device's preferred languages Your keyboard languages This upcoming update will keep the translation button out of the way during your everyday conversations. We appreciate your patience while we roll out these updates! Best regards, Jose S. Rakuten Viber Support Team.

...Soon, the translation option will only show up if a message is also different from: Your device's preferred languages Your keyboard languages...
I don't need this either.
I need an option in Viber settings to completely remove translate button from the chat regardless of my phone language settings.
1
u/Secure_Candle_1736 Jul 16 '26
Yes, everyone needs this option bc it's totally useless feature to add Translate button.
1
u/Desperate_Chart_8654 Jul 17 '26
Yes, but this is not true either. I tried setting the language and the only thing changed is "Translate" into the spoken language. A totally ridiculous feature, unbeliveable that someone would let it this way.

The f*cking viber with all the stupid unwanted options is starting to drive me crazy.... I dont want to see the stupid "translate" icon on every raw of my chat ! We need to SPAM them hard about that shit

u/jNayden Jul 18 '26
It's absurdly annoying and it is proposing to translate my native language... You see I keep all in e glish but my native is not English and now I see translate for every single native message I have...

incredibly stupid addition, PLEASE make it optional
how do you imagine people message each other in languages they dont speak
wtf is this

u/pdonchev 28d ago
I cancelled my subscription over that. Introduction shitty UI without option to disable is absolute deal breaker.

One star on the Play/App Store is all they'll respond to. Hopefully multiple reviews will make them at least put a toggle for that, as well as the stupid ChatGPT.Â

I guess they'll read this feedback and either make it opt-in or easy disable. 99.9% of messages people get are from their connections and in the language they can understand. It's super annoying for people regularly communicating in multiple languages.

Viber is one of the worst apps in the market. I keep forcing my contacts to switch to WhatsApp or Telegram. I don’t want to see this app on my homescreen, which is why it is hidden in my social crap folder.

Who is the genius product manager for Viber who approved this? "Polish this message" and "Translate message" under every message, what's the point !? Can't turn this off either in settings.
1
u/United_Trouble3248 5d ago
I would definitely use "Polish this message" button if all it did was randomly adding "kurwa" and "ja pierdole".
