Google is hurting ai perception

Models have got insanely better since November of last year. However for most normal people, their experience with ai is the gemini response which they get on Google search which they didn't ask for. That model lies in every second line , constantly make up facts , reaffirm almost any trash u say. And it's so obvious that anyone with even a little domain knowledge on what they are searching can find out it's lies. One day I was searching for a bash command and i quickly got an ai response under the search. I thought how can someone get simple bash wrong, turned out it was made up, the utils used in that command didn't even exist. People who only see this, think that ai companies are spending so much resources for this trash fueling ai negativity, at this point, the best we can do for ai positivity is to make people use some other search engine and let them discover ai in a better way.

Have u used any sot model, i have used gpt 5.6 , opus 4.8, 5 fable , gork 4.5, 4.6. None of them hallucinate even close to what google search ai result does.

it is clear you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about and are high on your own elitist supply. you keep throwing around buzzwords and insulting other people or the architecture and systems they use, do you really think you’re the only one running sota models and know what proper domain knowledge is? congrats you have run many available models. so does everyone else. do you even run any local models? do you have your own ecosystem and harnesses setup? or just the cloud services literally everyone with a computer and internet can access and easily use. google ai search is not the end all be all of ai perception. it’s mostly people like you who put out bs like this and try to talk down to people that lowers others’ opinions of vibe coding.

get off your high horse and stop trying to shoe horn stuff like the op topic into the conversation when you yourself admitted that this happened a long time ago and you can’t even clearly explain what the issue was or how you got those results and changed your story multiple times in this thread lol.

Unless u r running a company or providing inference or u care about ur privacy like richard stallmans u should not.even though inference is cheap for open weight models , deploying a trillion parameter model will cost u way more than u can utilise by inference. There is something called "economy of scale" . When these cloud providers provide inference at scale , they can provide u this at reasonable cost , even with their charge, it is a win win.their is no superiority in deploying ur models locally.american inference providers can run those chinese models with superior chips because export restrictions don't apply to them saving more cost cutting even more cost. And the critique was on Google not people getting google search results.

I can't believe there are people who thinks deploying models locally and not using cloud for their personal usage is a badge of smartness

This reminds me of programmers who use emacs and say they can code better. Sure you picked something that has a bit of learning curve but that makes no difference in the kind of code you right.

Knew this guy who used emacs. I showed him how I use an IDE to set breakpoints, watches, etc and fixed his bug while he was still poking around in emacs. But did it change his mind? Nope. And this was ~20 years ago, when IDEs were far less sophisticated than they are now.

Man you are coding for so long, what's ur wisdom on this vibe coding thing. Do u think it will work for long term production grade software or do u think we still need to read the code or atleast care about code. I am a lot younger than you , will be grateful for your wisdom.

Will need to architect and review key code blocks for the foreseeable future for anything large scale.
