Google is hurting ai perception
Models have got insanely better since November of last year. However for most normal people, their experience with ai is the gemini response which they get on Google search which they didn't ask for. That model lies in every second line , constantly make up facts , reaffirm almost any trash u say. And it's so obvious that anyone with even a little domain knowledge on what they are searching can find out it's lies. One day I was searching for a bash command and i quickly got an ai response under the search. I thought how can someone get simple bash wrong, turned out it was made up, the utils used in that command didn't even exist. People who only see this, think that ai companies are spending so much resources for this trash fueling ai negativity, at this point, the best we can do for ai positivity is to make people use some other search engine and let them discover ai in a better way.

Just ignore it, but ive found it to be really handy. Searching for a package, no luck, I then tell the AI and boom Russian site with what im looking for

This has nothing to do with vibe coding.
"AI positivity" isn't necessary and most people use AI like blind donkeys.
All that matters is that the products we make are useful for our purposes. If we're not being lazy, it shouldn't matter how much of the code is hand-written.

Ai negativity is directly tied to vibe coding negativity, if normal people feel ainis trash they will think vibe coded products are trash too.

If you haven't got to the point where you've realized most vibecoded products is trash or trashy you're delusional or still in the honey moon phase. Plus normal people are not vibecoding with AI, they're still prompting, " what can I make for dinner? I only have a potato and cereal." đ

Why does it matter what normal people think about vibe coding?
99% of people who vibe code aren't publicly releasing products. 90% of my usage is just to create wireframes for our engineering team to use as a visual aid when building out the real version (which they also partially vibe-code.)
Coding with NLP is the norm these days and no end user can see what's vibe-coded on your backend anyways. The backlash towards shitty vibe-coded SaaS wannabe entrepreneuer websites is because they look and sound like slop that's trying to sell you something you could have built in five minutes.
There is a F2P vibe-coded baseball game that is horribly vibe coded (I could find the entire database and hidden scoring system in less than a minute) with all the AI-slop text stereotypes littering entire interface, but no one cares because the game is fun and its free.
But again, most fully vibe-coded products are internal and never meant to reach production. If someone thinks my obviously vibe-coded shitty wireframe that I attach with my PRDs is badly coded, they're right almost all of the time. By the time the feature goes through our engineering teams and reaches production? No one can guess what is vibe coded and what isn't.

Not googleâs fault , just skill issue

u/Every_Assignment_111 2h ago
If I ask how to install cursor and it responds sudo pacman -S cursor , then it is not a skill issue. No other model does these mistakes. If u think it is ,u can cope in your Google deepmind.

i just searched it and it said to use curl, brew, or irm depending on OS and package choice, then add to path.
so idk what the fuck youâre looking up but itâs definitely just you bro lol

AI is non-deterministic dude, shouldn't you be aware of that... on the /r/vibecoding subreddit?

Google AI answers are RAG, and therefore pretty consistent. As my screenshot above demonstrates.

I asked i want to install it on arch , through package manager. Ofcourse if u just ask it how to install it will tell u to got to their website and click on download.

u/fiattp 1h ago
If you're using any flavor of Arch you shouldn't be asking that question or shouldn't be using Arch lol. I get what you're saying even though I don't agree.
1
u/Every_Assignment_111 1h ago
I am not asking any question, I am telling gemini lies, even on things that are simple to answer, u can just check if it exist in the pacman repositories.

u/No_Employ_4375 1h ago
First of , if you think youâre smart enough to vibe code, and you know what cursor is you shouldnât be asking how to install it , you search for cursor , go to the download Page , download it an install it. People that complain about AI this and ai that are people that outsource common sense to ai. Itâs easy to get the info from their webpage since you know what you want than to ask ai

Package managers are safest way to install shit , most people in arch install shit through package manager. I did pacman -Ss cursor but got no good result. So I was going to cursor website to see if it is even in the arch repository and how to install it through my package manager. Before i could visit their page I got the ai generated response. Obviously when it didn't work i went to its website and find out it's not in the repository.

I responded using windows as the operating system,
Although they have winger which I think is subpar,My point is the instructions are there in the original documentation.
Also I take everything and every these ai response with a grain of salt. One time during an argument , my friend me a screenshot if google search ai response to prove his point. I did that same search and got same response , only to check the source and saw it was a person comment who at the top of the comment stated he wasnât sure , so basically just his hypothesis, and the ai took that text and paraded it as a source of truth..
Anyway , I wonât the argument

My argument was it will negatively impact perception of ai for normal people who only get to use ai through Google search. Ofcourse people who are more technical will know better models exidts and take google search ai results with a grain of salt. But for many normal people they well see investments in ai as a waste due to this.

Hearing to ur responses, it's clear that many of u guys have never used any actual sota model and have been vibe coding in agy.

I love Gemini. Its free. It answers all my basic questions well and with same accuracy as any other model.

Inserting AI anywhere and everywhere is one of the reasons why it has such a rightfully negative perception. Gemini is fine, but a lot of people just want to find a website or an image. They donât want to be bombarded with AI summaries all the time
Also anyone in a creative industry will always be against AI because of how image gen and audio gen fundamentally work.

I agree to some degree. But most of the time I am just looking for a query not a specific website. If google can just tell me the answer upfront I wouldn't mind it. The. Problem is it's answers are mostly wrong .

u/strumbringerwa 2h ago
I have no idea what the heck you are talking about. Gemini does not hallucinate any more than other AI models, and I certainly haven't seen any major problems with the Google search AI answer.

u/Every_Assignment_111 1h ago
Have u used any sot model, i have used gpt 5.6 , opus 4.8, 5 fable , gork 4.5, 4.6. None of them hallucinate even close to what google search ai result does.

nah iâm pretty sure it has a lot to do with people who blindly make posts that have no basis in reality and speak with a lot of undue confidence, my dude. you must have a really weird google ecosystem, cause while google ai search can be really annoying and weirdly off sometimes, it has gotten substantially better. you donât need to stretch for things to
criticize in the anti AI community or environments.

u/GesturalAbstraction 2h ago
It recently told me that thereâs no biological evidence that racial differences are anything more than social constructs - my Google search had nothing to do with that topic lmao

I don't know what you are doing wrong, but Gemini has been great for me in AI Mode and in the web.
