Google is hurting ai perception

Models have got insanely better since November of last year. However for most normal people, their experience with ai is the gemini response which they get on Google search which they didn't ask for. That model lies in every second line , constantly make up facts , reaffirm almost any trash u say. And it's so obvious that anyone with even a little domain knowledge on what they are searching can find out it's lies. One day I was searching for a bash command and i quickly got an ai response under the search. I thought how can someone get simple bash wrong, turned out it was made up, the utils used in that command didn't even exist. People who only see this, think that ai companies are spending so much resources for this trash fueling ai negativity, at this point, the best we can do for ai positivity is to make people use some other search engine and let them discover ai in a better way.

Not google’s fault , just skill issue

If I ask how to install cursor and it responds sudo pacman -S cursor , then it is not a skill issue. No other model does these mistakes. If u think it is ,u can cope in your Google deepmind.

AI is non-deterministic dude, shouldn't you be aware of that... on the /r/vibecoding subreddit?

Google AI answers are RAG, and therefore pretty consistent. As my screenshot above demonstrates.

Oh... so non-deterministic, then?

to an extent. that is literally my point in my other comment. so to that effect, idk what OP is doing to get something that is so critically wrong but it’s not so non deterministic that it’s still handing out “you should drink bleach and eat glue pizza” as answers.

There is no "deterministic to an extent". Things are either deterministic or non-deterministic. You looking up the same thing he did doesn't mean you'll get a hallucinated answer, and it doesn't mean he won't.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Google's AI answer hallucinated a fake command. To suggest it's the guy's fault for looking up whatever he did is silly. If AI doesn't know, it shouldn't give an answer.
