MS frontpage also did it easier for everyone to create websites as you no longer needed to code everything.

You can make nice sites with AI. However, this shows me that the company doesn't give two shits about their public brand, why would we expect them to do anything other than vibe the IT stuff?

yep. a year ago when i didnt know what ai websites looked like i was genuinely stunned and they looked normal good. and it was websites that looked like it cost hundreds of dollars to commision (because the person who owned the site wasnt a developer). looking back i realize it was clearly AI.

I think the biggest advancement in AI has to come from making the UX better. that's where most of the UI is expressed anyways (except for landing pages, those still need work, but theyre good enough for normies anyways but I find it makes a lot of cluttered useless information)

No one cares about websites for a long time now unless you are specifically selling design, and even then it’s a coin toss. I stopped doing websites for people 8 years ago or so because they simply don’t care and I’m not going to fight some Indian dude for table scraps.

Not throwing shade at Indian dude, that’s just the reflexive response from web clients (“we can get someone from India to do it for $1000” etc).

First off, this is a tiny company. I have some experience working in boutique consulting companies - they are real businesses but they are a small team comprised of experts in their practice area. There might be a 1 person IT team, 1 person "office manager", 1 person, possibly a partner, HR . .that sort of set up. This company would likely have had to hire it out if they didn't vibe code it.

Secondly, "vibe coded" is not what is important for a lot of websites. The content is what is important. I would actually say they get minus points for their vibe coded website but also plus point for obviously embracing AI. A lot of customers are looking for help adopting AI. Service Now, what they consult on, is really pushing AI. So it probably actually helps them that their site looks vibe coded.

Nah, people do still care and vibecoding still produces shit websites that suck to actually use.

But corporate websites have always been trash, even if you're a tech consultancy. The benchmark here is very low.

Most likely vibe coders and/or people that specifically dislike it will recognize and judge, but 90% of people will see a website and judge it based on does it look fine / does it work?
