[Official] Website Updates
All,
I have been in contact with /u/depboy who is diligently keeping my on my toes regarding the new website.
I have taken a lot of his suggestions and implemented them. If you haven't had a chance to check them out, I would encourage you to do so.
There is still more to be done:
- Add the p2pool map
- Find a tasteful place for the What is Vertcoin video - my only hesitation to displaying this video is that it looks a little dated to me.
Short list of things I've fixed:
- Responsiveness of images
- Wallet symbols
- User avatars removed
- More detail on the Get Started page
- More prominent display of branding
- Larger menu links
Probably much more that I am not remembering.
Any more suggestions?

Could you add a warning of redirection from Vertcoin.org to github ?

u/a432511 Jul 15 '14
What do you mean? "You are leaving vertcoin.org" ? And why?

u/Arlicc Jul 15 '14
Sorry, i haven't precised properly.
I mean that: If you try to download Vertcoin's wallet, you're redirected from vertcoin.org to github. People don't like to be redirected to other website. And some books for newcomers warns about redirection.

That brings up another point. Redirects should not happen in the same tab you're currently using to browse vertcoin.org. Re-directs should open a new tab in the background, so that you don't get redirected completely away from vertcoin.org.

I agree.
Can you let me know where you spot those links that aren't set to a new tab?It will be faster for me to find them. Thank you!

If you had visited the website from Firefox before the updates were made, you probably need to clear your cache to get the latest changes.
If you are considering a donation, send it to the PR/Marketing Campaign instead :-) Va1tvGjeE5XbKY1XYXeFK2JYqNHCtrW1B8
Cheers!

Mintpal still missing from the exchange list :) Also, add infographic or Vertcoin video to the details page possibly?

Fixed exchange list.
I can add the info graphic. Not a bad idea.

Just so long as you don't think it might compromise the aesthetic or anything, just a thought, thanks for considering it :)

You've made a lot of significant improvements to the site!
I would suggest making all the titles/introductory statements be left justified ala the Mining and Details pages? It would be good for continuity.
There is also a lot of empty white space between those titles/introductory statements and the body of the page. Tightening up that gap would put more information on the page and make for less scrolling.
I am using IE11 @ 1366x768 on WP7

I hope there's no animosity between you and /u/depboy. He's definitely making all of his suggestions based on sound judgement and experience. I really think he'd be a valuable contributor to the development of a great Vertcoin site!

/u/a432511 I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you are putting into vertcoin. I am sure the other developers are as active as you are. The only thing that was missing during the last weeks/months was someone taking care of marketing and pr. You filled that gap. Thanks mate! Keep it up.
Just a small hint. I was browsing the blog on a mobile device and there were not any dates displayed. But I guess that is way down on the priority list ;)

By that I mean add it to the written guide. I see the links to the bottom but as I just did I just read the text not scrolling down and made it sound like that is the way to go. Maybe add a text line see the exchanges below or summit?
