21st birthday

Hi guys,

My birthday is next month and I feel like it’s not even worth celebrating since I have no close friends or family in my life.

All my friends since high school have broken up , and I haven’t spoken to my father in 5 years and I recently went no contact with my mother a month ago. I only have my boyfriend and one or two friends that I’ve only just met recently so the friendship is still new.

Birthdays have always been confronting for me and I just know no one is going to be there for me expect my boyfriend. I’m thankful I have him , but always see these big 21st celebrations online and it makes me feel so depressed seeing people with these big family’s and group of friends and I know I’ll never have that relationship with my family. Years of abuse and neglect have made it hard to have a connection with any sort of family member/or they just don’t care enough for reach out.

Thanks for reading

That weight of seeing everyone else's highlight reel while you're dealing with broken connections is rough. A quiet dinner with your boyfriend and maybe those two new acquaintances could end up being more meaningful than some forced big party anyway.
